- Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
- Ensure the lid is securely closed before brewing to prevent hot water or coffee from splashing.
- Exercise caution around sharp needles inside the K-Cup holder.
- Avoid overfilling the reusable filter basket to prevent overflow.

Setup
- Unpack: Remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. Perform a cleaning cycle by filling the water reservoir with clean water and running a brew cycle without a K-Cup or coffee grounds. This helps to flush out any manufacturing residue.
- Position Drip Tray: Ensure the drip tray is properly seated in its designated slot at the base of the brewer.
- Place Appliance: Position the coffee maker on a stable, level surface near an electrical outlet.
Operating Instructions
Brewing with K-Cups:
- Open Lid: Press the large button on top of the brewer to open the lid.
- Insert K-Cup: Place a K-Cup into the K-Cup holder. Ensure it is seated correctly.
- Add Water: Pour the desired amount of water (between 6 to 14 ounces) into the water reservoir at the back of the brewer. The water level markings inside the reservoir indicate the volume.
- Close Lid: Close the lid firmly until it snaps into place. This will puncture the K-Cup.
- Place Mug: Position your mug (up to 16 ounces) on the drip tray directly under the dispenser. You can adjust the built-in lift to match your mug's height.
- Start Brewing: Press the brew button at the front base of the machine. The button will illuminate red, indicating brewing has started. The brewer will automatically shut off when brewing is complete.

Brewing with Fresh Grounds (Reusable Filter):
- Open Lid: Press the large button on top of the brewer to open the lid.
- Fill Reusable Filter: Open the reusable filter basket and fill it with your desired amount of fresh coffee grounds (up to 3 ½ tablespoons). Do not overfill past the MAX line.
- Insert Filter: Place the filled reusable filter into the K-Cup holder. Ensure the 'FRONT' arrow on the filter aligns with the front of the brewer.
- Add Water: Pour the desired amount of water (between 6 to 14 ounces) into the water reservoir.
- Close Lid: Close the lid firmly until it snaps into place.
- Place Mug: Position your mug on the drip tray directly under the dispenser.
- Start Brewing: Press the brew button. The button will illuminate red, and brewing will begin. The brewer will automatically shut off when complete.

Brewing Hot Water Only:
To dispense hot water for tea, hot chocolate, or instant meals, simply follow the brewing steps without inserting a K-Cup or reusable filter. The machine will heat and dispense the water from the reservoir.
Maintenance
Daily Cleaning:
- Exterior: Wipe down the exterior of the InstaCoffee Max with a damp cloth or rag after each use.
- Drip Tray: Remove and empty the drip tray as needed. Wash with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- K-Cup Holder/Reusable Filter: After each use, remove the K-Cup or reusable filter. Discard used grounds/pods. Rinse the reusable filter and K-Cup holder under running water.
Self-Cleaning Function:
The Chefman InstaCoffee Max features a self-cleaning function to prevent mineral buildup. Refer to the full user guide for detailed instructions on how to activate and perform this cycle regularly.
Troubleshooting
- Inadequate Pressure/Weak Brew: This can be caused by too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing. Adjust grind size and coffee amount as needed.
- Water Overflow: Ensure you do not overfill the reusable filter basket beyond the MAX line.
- Machine Not Brewing: Check that the lid is fully closed and snapped into place. Ensure the power cord is securely plugged in.
- Water Dripping After Brew: Some residual dripping is normal. Ensure the drip tray is in place.
