Setup

  1. Ensure your turntable is clean and free from loose debris.
  2. Place the record you wish to clean onto the turntable platter.
  3. Ensure the turntable is powered off or set to a slow rotation speed if applicable for cleaning.

Operating Instructions

1. Cleaning Vinyl Records with the Velvet Pad and Cleaning Spray

  1. Place the record on your turntable and start rotation.
  2. Lightly spray the 1.69 oz. (50 mL) cleaning fluid onto the velvet cleaning pad. Do not oversaturate the pad.
  3. Gently hold the velvet pad horizontally over the spinning record, allowing the pad to make contact with the record surface.
  4. Allow the record to complete 1-2 rotations while the pad collects dust and debris.
  5. Slowly move the pad from the outer edge towards the center of the record, maintaining gentle contact.
  6. Lift the pad from the record.
  7. Use the mini dust brush to clean any collected debris from the velvet pad.
  8. Repeat the process on the other side of the record if necessary.

2. Cleaning the Stylus

  1. Carefully lift the tonearm from its rest.
  2. Using the stylus brush, gently brush the stylus from back to front (away from the cantilever).
  3. Avoid brushing side-to-side or front-to-back, as this can damage the stylus.
  4. Repeat 2-3 times until the stylus is clean.
  5. Return the tonearm to its rest.

Maintenance

  • Velvet Cleaning Pad: After each use, clean the velvet pad with the provided mini dust brush to remove accumulated debris. For deeper cleaning, the pad can be gently wiped with a damp, lint-free cloth. Allow to air dry completely before next use.
  • Cleaning Spray: Store the cleaning spray in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
  • Storage: Keep all components of the Vinyl Record Care System in the provided storage pouch to protect them from dust and damage when not in use.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your records after cleaning, consider the following:

  • Persistent Dust/Noise: Ensure the velvet pad is thoroughly cleaned after each use. You may need to repeat the cleaning process for heavily soiled records.
  • Static Buildup: Ensure the cleaning fluid is applied evenly. Static can also be reduced by ensuring proper grounding of your turntable.
  • Stylus Performance: A dirty stylus can cause distorted sound. Ensure the stylus is cleaned regularly with the dedicated stylus brush. If issues persist, the stylus may need replacement.
