3. Tire Thumper
The Tire Thumper function provides a quick method for evaluating properly inflated tires for truck driver safety.
- Strike the tire firmly with the thumper end of the OPNBar.
- A loud, sharp thud indicates a properly inflated tire.
- A dull thud suggests a poorly inflated or flat tire.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your OPNBar, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Wipe down the tool with a clean cloth after each use to remove dirt, grease, and moisture.
- Storage: Store the OPNBar in a dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the tool for any signs of wear, corrosion, or damage. Pay close attention to the handle and the hook ends.
- Corrosion Protection: Although the tool features rust inhibitors, prolonged exposure to harsh elements can still cause corrosion. Apply a light coat of rust-preventative oil if storing for extended periods or in humid environments.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Difficulty opening/closing doors with extender. | Door handles are severely rusted, frozen, or misaligned. Incorrect tool placement. | Ensure the tool is properly seated on the handle. Apply a penetrating lubricant to the door hinges and latches if heavily rusted. For frozen doors, allow ice to melt or carefully remove it. |
| Fifth wheel release hook slips. | Hook not fully engaged. Excessive grease on fifth wheel pin. | Verify the hook is securely seated on the fifth wheel release mechanism. Clean excess grease from the fifth wheel pin if it's causing slippage. |
| Tool appears damaged or bent. | Improper use or excessive force. Accidental impact. | Discontinue use immediately. Contact OPNBar customer support for assistance or replacement. Do not attempt to repair a damaged tool. |
