  • Wear Eye Protection: Always wear appropriate eye protection (safety glasses or goggles) to shield against flying debris.

  • Inspect for Damage: Before each use, inspect the trimmer head for any signs of damage, cracks, or wear. Do not use a damaged trimmer head.
  • Proper Installation: Ensure the trimmer head is securely and correctly installed according to the instructions to prevent it from detaching during operation.

5. Operating Instructions

The Hexu C5-2 Trimmer Head is designed for easy line feeding during operation.

5.1 Line Feeding

This trimmer head features an auto-cut mechanism. To advance the trimmer line:

  • While the trimmer is running at full speed, gently tap the bottom of the trimmer head on a firm, non-abrasive surface (e.g., grass or dirt).
  • The impact will release a small amount of line. A built-in blade on the trimmer guard will cut the line to the correct length.
  • Avoid tapping on hard surfaces like concrete or rocks, as this can damage the trimmer head.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your trimmer head.

6.1 Cleaning

  • After each use, ensure the trimmer is off and disconnected from power.
  • Remove any grass, dirt, or debris from the trimmer head using a brush or cloth.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the plastic components.

6.2 Trimmer Line Replacement

When the trimmer line runs out or becomes too short, it needs to be replaced. The Hexu C5-2 Trimmer Head uses a line with a diameter of Φ0.08 inches (2.0 mm).

  1. Disconnect Power: Ensure the trimmer is off and disconnected from its power source.
  2. Remove Spool: Depending on the design, you may need to press tabs or unscrew the top cap to access the internal spool.
  3. Remove Old Line: Discard any remaining old trimmer line from the spool.
  4. Wind New Line: Take a new length of Φ0.08" (2.0 mm) trimmer line (approximately 6.56 feet or 2.0 meters). Fold the line in half and insert the fold into the center slot of the spool. Wind the two ends evenly and tightly onto the spool in the direction indicated by arrows on the spool or head. Ensure the line is wound without kinks or overlaps.
  5. Feed Line Ends: Thread the ends of the line through the eyelets on the trimmer head.
  6. Reassemble: Place the spool back into the trimmer head, ensuring it seats correctly. Reattach the cap or secure the tabs until it clicks into place.
  7. Test: Gently pull on the line ends to ensure they are properly secured and can feed smoothly.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Hexu C5-2 Trimmer Head, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Line Not Feeding:
    • Check if the line is tangled or improperly wound on the spool. Rewind the line if necessary, ensuring it is neat and tight.
    • Ensure the line is not fused together due to heat. Remove the spool and separate the lines if fused.
    • Verify that the tapping mechanism is not obstructed by debris.
  • Trimmer Head Not Attaching Securely:
    • Confirm that the trimmer head model (C5-2) is compatible with your specific string trimmer model.
    • Ensure no debris is preventing the head from seating properly on the shaft.
    • Tighten the head firmly in the clockwise direction.
  • Excessive Vibration:
    • Check for unevenly cut or worn trimmer line. Replace the line if needed.
    • Ensure the trimmer head is securely attached and not loose.
