Operating Instructions
Powering On/Off
To power on the tuner, press and hold the power button located on the top of the unit until the display illuminates. To power off, press and hold the power button again until the display turns off. The tuner may also feature an auto-off function to conserve battery life after a period of inactivity.
Tuning Process
Once powered on and attached to your viola, the tuner will automatically detect the pitch of the notes you play. The full-color LCD display will show the note name and indicate whether the note is sharp, flat, or in tune.
- Note Display: The large central character on the display indicates the detected note (e.g., C, D, E, F, G, A, B).
- Pitch Indicator: A needle or bar graph on the display will move to the left if the note is flat, to the right if it is sharp, and center when it is in tune. The display color may change (e.g., red for out of tune, green for in tune) to provide visual feedback.
- Calibration: The tuner has a wide calibration range of 410-480Hz. This allows you to adjust the reference pitch (A4) to match other instruments or specific ensemble requirements. Refer to the buttons on the tuner for calibration adjustment.

Maintenance
Cleaning
To maintain the tuner's appearance and functionality, wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the display or casing.
Battery Replacement
When the display dims or the tuner becomes unresponsive, it is time to replace the battery. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the Setup section. Always dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
Storage
Store the tuner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the battery to prevent leakage and potential damage to the unit.
Troubleshooting
- Tuner not turning on:
Check if the battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace the battery if necessary.
- Inaccurate readings:
Ensure the tuner is securely attached to the instrument and is making good contact. Verify that the instrument itself is producing clear, sustained notes. Check the calibration setting (A4 reference pitch) to ensure it matches your desired standard.
- Display is dim or flickering:
This typically indicates a low battery. Replace the battery immediately.
- Tuner falls off the instrument:
Ensure the lever-lock clamp is fully engaged and securely gripping a stable part of the instrument. The clamp is designed for viola dimensions; ensure it is used on an appropriate surface.
