Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the Keychron Q1 V2 RGB Wired Custom Mechanical Keyboard. It covers setup, operation, customization, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal use of your device. The Keychron Q1 V2 is a fully assembled 75% layout mechanical keyboard featuring QMK/VIA support, a full aluminum CNC machined body, double-gasket design, and OSA profile double-shot PBT keycaps.

Setup
1. Unboxing and Contents
Carefully unbox your Keychron Q1 V2 keyboard. The package should contain the following items:
- 1x Fully Assembled Keyboard (including aluminum case, PCB, steel plate, sound absorbing foam, case foam, 8 installed gaskets)
- 8x Additional Gaskets
- 4 sets x Stabilizers
- 1 set x Keycaps (Double-Shot OSA PBT)
- 1 set x Switches (Gateron G Pro Brown)
- 1x Type-C to Type-C Cable
- 1x Type-A to Type-C Adapter
- 1x Switch Puller
- 1x Keycap Puller
- 1x Screwdriver
- 1x Hex Key

2. Connecting the Keyboard
Connect the keyboard to your computer using the provided Type-C to Type-C cable. If your computer only has USB-A ports, use the included Type-A to Type-C adapter.
3. Operating System Switch
Locate the operating system switch on the back or side of the keyboard. Toggle it to the appropriate position for your system (Mac or Windows/Linux). This ensures correct key mapping and functionality.

Operating and Customization
1. QMK/VIA Software Customization
The Keychron Q1 V2 supports QMK/VIA, allowing for intuitive key remapping and macro creation across macOS, Windows, and Linux. To use VIA:
- Connect the Keychron Q1 V2 to your device via cable.
- Download the appropriate keymap JSON file for the Q1 V2 from the official Keychron website.
- Open the VIA software.
- In the VIA software, navigate to the "Settings" tab and enable "Show Design tab".
- Drag the downloaded JSON file into the "Design" tab in VIA to load the Q1 V2 keymap.
You can now customize key assignments, create macros, and adjust lighting effects.

2. Hot-Swappable Switches
The keyboard features hot-swappable sockets compatible with most 3-pin and 5-pin MX style mechanical switches (e.g., Gateron, Cherry, Kailh). This allows you to install or change switches without soldering. The keyboard comes pre-installed with pre-lubed Gateron G Pro Brown switches, offering a tactile response and a lifespan of up to 50 million keystrokes.

3. Double-Gasket Design
The Q1 V2 incorporates a double-gasket design. In addition to gaskets on the plates, silicone pads are placed between the top and bottom cases. This design significantly reduces sound resonance between metal components and minimizes noise from impacts, enhancing typing sound and maintaining structural flexibility.

4. Screw-In PCB Stabilizers
The keyboard features screw-in PCB stabilizers, which increase stability for larger keys (space bar, shift, enter, delete) and simplify changes or upgrades. The Keychron Q1 V2 also supports third-party stabilizers, including Cherry or Durock.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Keyboard
To maintain your keyboard's appearance and functionality:
- Disconnect the keyboard from your computer before cleaning.
- Use a can of compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keycaps.
- For surface cleaning, gently wipe the keycaps and case with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- For deeper cleaning, keycaps can be removed using the provided keycap puller and washed with mild soap and water. Ensure they are completely dry before reattaching.
2. Replacing Switches and Keycaps
The hot-swappable design allows for easy replacement of switches and keycaps:
- Keycaps: Use the keycap puller to gently remove keycaps by hooking it onto the keycap and pulling upwards. To install, align the keycap with the switch stem and press down firmly until it clicks into place.
- Switches: Use the switch puller to grip the top and bottom clips of the switch and pull upwards. To install a new switch, ensure the pins are straight, align them with the holes on the PCB, and press down gently until the switch is seated. Do not force the switch if it does not go in smoothly, as this may bend the pins.
Troubleshooting
1. Keyboard Not Responding
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer.
- Verify that the operating system switch on the keyboard is set to the correct position (Mac or Windows/Linux).
- Try connecting the keyboard to a different USB port on your computer.
- Test the keyboard on another computer to rule out a computer-specific issue.
2. VIA Software Not Recognizing Keyboard
- Ensure the keyboard is connected via cable, as VIA requires a wired connection.
- Confirm you have downloaded the correct Q1 V2 JSON keymap file from the Keychron website and loaded it into the VIA "Design" tab.
- Restart the VIA software and/or your computer.
- Check for any firmware updates for your Keychron Q1 V2 on the official Keychron website.
3. RGB Backlight Issues
- Use the designated key combinations (refer to the Keychron Q1 V2 quick start guide or VIA software) to cycle through lighting modes and brightness levels.
- If specific keys are not lighting up, check if the switches are properly seated or if the LEDs are damaged.
