1. Important Safety Information

1.1 Laser Safety

  • This device emits Class II laser radiation. Do not stare directly into the laser beam.
  • Do not aim the laser beam at people or animals.
  • Avoid direct eye exposure to the laser beam.

  • Keep the device out of reach of children.

1.2 Battery Safety

  • Use only the specified battery type (2 x 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries).

  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
  • Dispose of used batteries properly according to local regulations.

1.3 General Safety

  • Do not operate the device in explosive environments, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • The device is IP54 rated for dust and splash protection, but it is not fully waterproof. Do not immerse it in water.

The Kiprim LD50E is a compact and accurate laser distance measure designed for various measurement tasks. It features a large backlit LCD display, multiple measurement functions, and a durable, ergonomic design.

3. Getting Started

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Insert two 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the READ button to turn on the device and activate the laser.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the OFF/CLEAR button for 2 seconds to turn off the device. The device will automatically shut down after 150 seconds of inactivity to conserve power.

4. Basic Operation

4.1 Single Distance Measurement

  1. Point the laser at the target surface.
  2. Press the READ button once. The measurement will be displayed on the screen.

4.2 Changing Measurement Reference Point

The device can measure from its front edge or its rear edge. Short press the U button to switch between the front and rear reference points. An icon on the display will indicate the current reference point.

4.3 Switching Units

Long press the U button to cycle through measurement units: meters (m), inches (in), feet (ft), and feet+inches (ft+in).

5. Measurement Functions

The Kiprim LD50E offers multiple measurement modes for various applications.

5.1 Mode Selection

Press the Mode/Save button to cycle through the available measurement functions: Distance, Area, Volume, Continuous Measurement, and Pythagorean (indirect) measurement.

5.2 Continuous Measurement

In continuous measurement mode, the device will continuously measure and display the distance as you move it, showing maximum and minimum values.

5.3 Area Measurement

  1. Select Area mode.
  2. Measure the length.
  3. Measure the width. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

5.4 Volume Measurement

  1. Select Volume mode.
  2. Measure the length.
  3. Measure the width.
  4. Measure the height. The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.

5.5 Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect)

This mode allows for indirect measurement of heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem. Follow the on-screen prompts to measure the required sides (hypotenuse and one leg) to calculate the unknown side.

5.6 Addition and Subtraction

After taking a measurement, press the +/- button to add or subtract subsequent measurements. The result will be displayed.

5.7 Data Storage and Recall

The device can store up to 99 sets of measurement data. Press the Mode/Save button (after a measurement) to save the current reading. Use the arrow buttons (if available, or cycle through modes) to recall stored data. Press OFF/CLEAR to delete the current data.

6. Display Indicators

The large backlit LCD display provides clear information about the device's status and measurements.

  • Battery Level Indicator: Shows the remaining battery power.
  • Laser Status: Indicates if the laser is active.

7. Maintenance and Care
