5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
The VERPROOF VE12 safe requires a 9V battery (not included) for its electronic locking mechanisms. To install the battery:
- Open the safe using one of the emergency keys provided. The keyhole is located on the front panel.
- Locate the battery compartment inside the safe, typically behind a small cover or flap.
- Connect a new 9V battery to the battery connector.
- Place the battery securely into the compartment and close the cover.
- Close the safe door. The safe is now powered and ready for programming.
5.2 Mounting the Safe
The safe can be mounted in various locations such as under a desk, on a nightstand, or inside a wardrobe. The included mounting bracket allows for flexible installation.
- Determine your desired mounting location. The safe can be mounted with the opening facing left, right, or downwards.
- Attach the mounting bracket to your chosen surface using the provided screw kit. Ensure the bracket is securely fastened to a sturdy structure.
- Align the safe with the mounted bracket. The safe slides onto the bracket.
- Once the safe is on the bracket, open the safe door. From the inside, secure the safe to the bracket using the internal bolts. This prevents the safe from being removed from the bracket when closed.

5.3 Programming the Keypad Code
The safe comes with a default factory code (1-2-3-4). It is highly recommended to change this code immediately.
- Open the safe using the emergency key or the default code (1-2-3-4).
- Locate the "Learn" button inside the safe (usually a small button near the battery compartment).
- Press and hold the "Learn" button until the keypad lights up green and blinks.
- Enter your desired new code (4-6 digits).
- Press and hold the "Learn" button again until the keypad lights up green and blinks.
- Re-enter your new code. The safe will beep to confirm successful programming.
- Test your new code with the safe door open to ensure it works correctly before closing.
5.4 Registering Fingerprints
The safe features a 508 DPI biometric fingerprint sensor and can store up to 120 fingerprints.
- Open the safe using the emergency key or your programmed keypad code.
- Press the "Learn" button once. The fingerprint scanner light will turn green and blink.
- Place your finger firmly on the biometric sensor. Lift and place your finger four times, slightly adjusting the position each time to capture different angles of your fingerprint. The safe will beep after each successful scan.
- After the fourth successful scan, the safe will beep to confirm successful fingerprint registration.
- Repeat the process for additional fingerprints or other fingers.
- Test the registered fingerprint with the safe door open to ensure it works correctly before closing.

6. Operating the Safe
6.1 Opening with Fingerprint
To open the safe using a registered fingerprint:
- Place a registered finger firmly on the biometric sensor.
- The safe will verify the fingerprint. If successful, the safe door will automatically drop open.
6.2 Opening with Keypad Code
To open the safe using the keypad code:
- Enter your programmed 4-6 digit code on the keypad.
- The safe will verify the code. If successful, the safe door will automatically drop open.
6.3 Opening with Emergency Key
In case of battery failure or forgotten codes, use the emergency key:
- Insert the emergency key into the keyhole on the front panel.
- Turn the key to unlock the safe. The safe door will drop open.

6.4 Mute Function
The safe is equipped with a mute function for silent operation. Locate the "Mute" button inside the safe (near the "Learn" button) and press it to toggle sound on or off.
6.5 Interior Light
An interior light illuminates when the safe door opens, improving visibility in low-light conditions.

7. Maintenance
7.1 Battery Replacement
The safe will provide a low battery warning. Replace the 9V battery promptly when indicated to ensure continuous functionality. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 5.1.
7.2 Cleaning
