Tools Required:

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Measuring Tape
  • Pencil
  • Drill (optional, for new installations)

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Door: Ensure the door has standard bore holes (2-1/8 inch diameter) and a backset of either 2-3/8 inches or 2-3/4 inches. If installing on a new door, use the provided template to mark and drill the necessary holes.
  2. Install the Latches: Insert the deadbolt latch into the upper bore hole and the spring latch into the lower bore hole on the door edge. Secure them with the provided screws. Ensure the latches are oriented correctly for your door's swing.
  3. Video 1: This video demonstrates the installation process for the Cielsa Dawn Front Door Handleset, including how to install the latches and secure the components.

  4. Install the Exterior Handleset: Position the exterior handleset assembly, ensuring the spindle passes through the spring latch mechanism and the deadbolt tailpiece aligns with the deadbolt latch.
  5. Install the Interior Knob: Attach the interior door knob assembly, aligning it with the exterior handleset. Secure both assemblies using the long mounting screws through the interior side.
  6. Test Functionality: After installation, test both the deadbolt and the spring latch with the interior knob and the key from the exterior to ensure smooth operation.
  7. Install Strike Plates: Mount the strike plates on the door frame, aligning them with the latches. Secure with screws.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your handleset.

  • Cleaning: Clean the handleset with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the keyway and latch mechanisms to maintain smooth operation. Do not use oil-based lubricants, as they can attract dirt and dust.
