2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

This circular saw operates on the RYOBI 18V ONE+ battery system. Ensure the battery is fully charged before use. To install, align the battery with the tool's battery port and slide it firmly until it clicks into place. To remove, press the release latches on the sides of the battery and slide it out.

2.2 Blade Installation

To install or change the blade, first ensure the battery is removed for safety. Locate the spindle lock button on the saw and press it to prevent the blade from rotating. Use the provided hex wrench to loosen the arbor bolt. Retract the lower blade guard and carefully place the blade onto the arbor, ensuring the teeth are oriented correctly for cutting (usually pointing towards the front of the saw). Securely tighten the arbor bolt with the hex wrench while keeping the spindle lock engaged. Release the spindle lock and verify the blade spins freely.

2.3 Adjusting Cutting Depth and Bevel Angle

The saw features adjustable depth and bevel settings for versatile cutting. To adjust the cutting depth, loosen the depth adjustment lever, raise or lower the base plate to the desired depth indicated on the scale, and then tighten the lever. For bevel cuts, loosen the bevel adjustment lever, tilt the base plate to the desired angle (0-56 degrees) indicated on the bevel scale, and then tighten the lever securely.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Safety Precautions

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
  • Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before cutting to prevent movement.
  • Keep hands clear of the blade and cutting path at all times.
  • Do not force the saw through the material; allow the blade to do the work.
  • Before making any adjustments or changing blades, always remove the battery.

3.2 Making a Cut

With the battery installed and the blade and settings adjusted, position the saw on the workpiece. Ensure the blade is clear of the material before starting the saw. Depress the safety switch (if applicable) and then squeeze the trigger to start the saw. Allow the blade to reach full speed before entering the material. Guide the saw smoothly along your marked cutting line, maintaining a firm grip with both hands. The saw features clear sightlines and cutouts on the base plate to help maintain accuracy.

3.3 Dust Collection

For a cleaner work area, attach the included vacuum dust adaptor to the saw's dust port. Connect a shop vacuum or dust collection system to the adaptor to minimize sawdust accumulation during cutting operations.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the saw to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Use a soft cloth to wipe down the exterior. Clear any sawdust or debris from the blade guard, motor vents, and base plate. Compressed air can be used for hard-to-reach areas, but ensure safety glasses are worn.

4.2 Blade Care

Inspect the blade regularly for sharpness, damage, or excessive wear. A dull blade can lead to poor cuts, overheating, and increased strain on the motor. Replace dull or damaged blades promptly with appropriate 7-1/4 inch circular saw blades. Ensure the correct blade type (e.g., thin kerf, carbide-tipped) is used for the material being cut.

4.3 Storage

Store the circular saw in a clean, dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight. If storing for extended periods, remove the battery. Keep the saw out of reach of children and unauthorized users.
