7. Calibration
The WX086 features automatic calibration. Each time the device is powered on, it performs a self-calibration. For optimal accuracy, ensure the device is placed flat against the wall in an area free of known obstructions before starting a scan. If you move to a different wall or surface type, it is recommended to briefly lift the device and place it back down to allow it to recalibrate to the new surface conditions.
8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in its protective cloth bag in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use.
- Battery Care: For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50% every 3-6 months to maintain battery health.
- Avoid Drops: While designed with durability in mind, avoid dropping the device to prevent damage to internal components.
9. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Inaccurate readings / False positives | Improper calibration; too fast scanning; high humidity; presence of other materials. | Ensure proper calibration by placing flat on wall before scanning. Scan slowly. Avoid scanning over very damp areas. |
| Device not powering on | Low battery; faulty power button. | Charge the battery fully. If problem persists, contact customer support. |
| No detection in AC mode | Wires are not live; wires are too deep; shielded wires. | Ensure the circuit is live. Detection depth for AC wires is 51mm. Some shielded wires may be harder to detect. |
| Display flickering or unresponsive | Low battery; software glitch. | Charge the battery. Try turning the device off and on again. |
