1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the ZKTeco X628-TC Biometric Time and Attendance Terminal. 2. Product Overview

3. Setup

3.1. Mounting the Device

Select a suitable location for installation, ensuring it is away from direct sunlight, water, and extreme temperatures. Use the provided mounting template (if applicable) to mark and drill holes for secure wall mounting.

3.2. Power Connection

Connect the DC 5V 0.8A power adapter to the power input port on the device and then plug it into a standard electrical outlet. Ensure the power supply is stable.

3.3. Network Connection

  • TCP/IP: Connect an Ethernet cable from the device's LAN port to your network router or switch. Configure network settings (IP address, subnet mask, gateway) via the device's menu.
  • RS232/485: For serial communication, connect the appropriate cable to the RS232/485 port and to your computer or other serial device.

3.4. USB Host Connection

The USB host port can be used to connect a USB flash drive for data transfer (e.g., downloading attendance records, uploading user data) or for connecting an external printer.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. User Registration

  1. Access the main menu by pressing the M/OK button.
  2. Navigate to User Management > New User.
  3. Enter a unique 5-digit User ID.
  4. Select Enroll Fingerprint and follow the on-screen prompts to scan the user's finger multiple times for accurate registration.
  5. Optionally, enroll an ID card if the device supports it.
  6. Save the user information.

4.2. Time Attendance Recording

Users can record their attendance by placing their registered finger on the fingerprint sensor. The device will confirm the successful verification with an audible prompt and display the user's ID.

4.3. Menu Navigation

Use the numerical keypad and arrow keys to navigate through the device's menu. The M/OK button confirms selections, and the ESC button returns to the previous screen or the main interface.

4.4. Data Management

Attendance records and user data can be downloaded via USB host or network connection using the ZKTime.Net 3.0 software. Navigate to Data Management in the device menu to initiate data transfer.

4.5. Software Integration (ZKTime.Net 3.0)

The ZKTime.Net 3.0 software is used for comprehensive management of the terminal, including user enrollment, attendance record retrieval, report generation, and device configuration. Refer to the ZKTime.Net 3.0 software manual for detailed instructions.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

Regularly clean the fingerprint sensor and screen with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or liquids that could damage the device components.

5.2. Data Backup

Periodically back up attendance records and user data to an external storage device or computer using the ZKTime.Net 3.0 software to prevent data loss.

5.3. Software Updates

Check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware or software updates to ensure optimal performance and security of your device.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Fingerprint Not Recognized: Ensure the finger is clean and dry. Try re-enrolling the fingerprint if the issue persists.
  • Device Not Powering On: Verify the power adapter is correctly connected and the power outlet is functional.
  • Network Connection Issues: Check Ethernet cable connections. Verify IP settings on the device and network configuration.
  • Data Transfer Failure: Ensure the USB drive is properly inserted and formatted correctly. Check network connectivity for software-based transfers.
