4. Setup
4.1 Physical Installation
The inverter can be mounted vertically on a wall or a sturdy surface. Ensure the mounting location is dry, well-ventilated, and away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Leave sufficient clearance around the unit for proper airflow.
4.2 Battery Connection
Connect your 12V battery bank to the inverter's DC input terminals. Use appropriate gauge cables (red for positive, black for negative) and ensure tight connections. The inverter supports various battery types including SLA, AGM, GEL, Li-ion, LiFePO4, Sealed, and Flooded batteries.

Figure 4.1: The inverter is compatible with 12V battery types such as AGM, User-defined, Li-ion, Flooded, Sealed, and Gel batteries. It also features battery temperature sensor protection and adjustable charging current.
4.3 AC Input and Output Connection
Connect the AC input from your utility grid or generator to the designated AC input terminals. Connect your AC loads (appliances) to the AC output terminals. The inverter has a maximum AC output of 10A.

4.4 Initial Power-Up
Once all connections are secure, turn on the inverter using the ON/OFF button on the front panel. The LCD display will illuminate, showing the current operating status.
5. Operating Modes
The Ampinvt HT-1200W12V inverter offers five distinct working modes, configurable via the LCD display, to optimize power management based on your needs.
5.1 Mode Selection
Use the 'UP' and 'DOWN' buttons to navigate through the menu options on the LCD display. Press 'ENTER/MENU' to select a mode or parameter, and 'ESC' to go back.
5.2 Available Modes:
- AC Priority Mode: Prioritizes AC utility power. When AC input is present, the inverter charges the battery and transfers the AC input to power the load. If AC input is lost, it automatically switches to battery power.
- Battery Priority Mode: Prioritizes battery power supply. The inverter draws power from the battery to supply the load. If the battery voltage drops below a set low voltage protection level, it switches to AC utility power. When the battery is recharged to a set restore voltage, it switches back to battery power. This mode includes Low Volt Restore and Low Volt Protect settings.
- ECO Mode: Energy-saving mode. If the load is less than 10% of the inverter's capacity, it automatically enters sleep mode and stops output. When the load exceeds 10%, it automatically restarts to normal inversion.
- Generator Mode: Designed for use with a generator as the AC input. The inverter stabilizes the output through its AVR function while simultaneously recharging the battery.
- Unattended Mode: Similar to Battery Priority Mode, but with automatic recovery. When battery voltage is low, the inverter enters standby. Once the battery voltage restores to a user-defined level (e.g., via solar charging), the inverter resumes normal output, enabling fully automatic operation without manual intervention. This mode also includes Low Volt Restore and Low Volt Protect settings.
5.3 Adjustable Charging Current
The maximum charging current can be adjusted from 0-15A. Setting the value to 0A will disable the charging function.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your inverter.
- Cleaning: Keep the inverter clean and free from dust. Use a dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation openings are clear and unobstructed.
- Connections: Periodically check all electrical connections (battery, AC input, AC output) for tightness and corrosion. Tighten any loose connections.
- Battery Health: Monitor your battery's health and charge level, especially if using lead-acid batteries.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Ampinvt HT-1200W12V inverter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No AC Output / Inverter not turning on | Low battery voltage, loose battery connections, inverter OFF. | Check battery voltage and charge if necessary. Ensure battery cables are securely connected. Press the ON/OFF button. |
| Overload Protection Triggered | Connected load exceeds inverter's capacity (1200W continuous). | Reduce the total load connected to the inverter. Disconnect high-power appliances. |
| Over Temperature Protection | Poor ventilation, high ambient temperature, blocked fan. | Ensure adequate airflow around the inverter. Clear any obstructions from the fan. Allow the unit to cool down. |
| Short Circuit Protection | Short circuit in the AC output wiring or connected appliance. | Disconnect all loads and check wiring for short circuits. Reconnect loads one by one to identify the faulty appliance. |
| Battery Not Charging | AC input not present, charging current set to 0A, battery type mismatch. | Verify AC input connection. Check charging current setting on LCD. Ensure correct battery type is selected in settings. |
| ECO Mode Cycling On/Off Rapidly | Load is fluctuating around the 10% threshold, causing frequent switching. | This is normal behavior for ECO mode with fluctuating small loads. Consider switching to AC Priority or Battery Priority mode if continuous output is preferred for such loads. |
