• Telescopic Antenna: For improved reception of FM and Weather Band signals.
• Tuning Dial: Used to select radio frequencies.
• Band Selector Switch: To switch between AM, FM, and WB (Weather Band).

• Power Indicator Light: Illuminates when the radio is powered on.

Setup

Battery Installation

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
2. Slide the cover open in the direction indicated by the arrow.
3. Insert two (2) AA batteries (not included) into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as marked.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off and Volume Control

1. Rotate the Volume Control knob clockwise to turn the radio on. The power indicator light will illuminate.
2. Continue rotating the knob clockwise to increase the volume.
3. Rotate the knob counter-clockwise to decrease the volume.
4. To turn the radio off, rotate the Volume Control knob counter-clockwise until it clicks and the power indicator light turns off.

Band Selection

Use the Band Selector switch to choose your desired frequency band:

• AM: For Amplitude Modulation broadcasts (520-1710 KHz).
• FM: For Frequency Modulation broadcasts (87-108 MHz).
• WB: For NOAA Weather Band broadcasts (162.400-162.550 MHz).

Tuning to a Station

1. Select the desired band (AM, FM, or WB) using the Band Selector switch.
2. Extend the telescopic antenna for FM and WB reception. For AM, the internal antenna is generally sufficient, but rotating the radio may improve reception.
3. Slowly rotate the Tuning Dial until you hear a station clearly.
4. Adjust the antenna position for optimal signal reception.

Using the Earphone Jack

To listen privately, plug standard 3.5mm earphones (not included) into the earphone jack located on the side of the radio. The internal speaker will automatically mute when earphones are connected.

NOAA Weather Band Operation

The Greadio GR239 is equipped to receive NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Weather Radio broadcasts, providing continuous weather information directly from the nearest National Weather Service office.

1. Set the Band Selector switch to WB.
2. Extend the telescopic antenna fully.
3. Slowly rotate the Tuning Dial to scan through the seven NOAA weather frequencies:
   • 162.400 MHz
   • 162.425 MHz
   • 162.450 MHz
   • 162.475 MHz
   • 162.500 MHz
   • 162.525 MHz
   • 162.550 MHz
4. Stop tuning when you receive a clear weather broadcast. The radio's DSP chip is designed to optimize reception for these channels.

Important: In emergency situations, NOAA Weather Radio provides critical alerts for severe weather events such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods. Ensure you know the primary NOAA frequency for your area.

Maintenance

• Clean the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Avoid exposing the radio to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
• Do not immerse the radio in water.
• If the radio will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent corrosion.
