Setup Instructions

  1. Power Off Devices: Ensure all computers and the monitor are powered off before starting the installation to prevent damage.
  2. Connect Monitor: Connect your HDMI monitor to the "HDMI OUT" port on the rear panel of the KVM switch using the provided 4K@60Hz HDMI cable.
  3. Connect Keyboard & Mouse: Connect your USB keyboard and mouse to the dedicated USB 2.0 ports on the front panel of the KVM switch.
  4. Connect Computers: For each computer (up to 8), follow these steps:
    • Connect one end of an integrated KVM cable (which combines HDMI and USB) to the corresponding "HDMI IN" and "USB IN" ports on the rear panel of the KVM switch.
    • Connect the HDMI connector of the other end of the KVM cable to the HDMI output of your computer.
    • Connect the USB connector (pigtail) of the KVM cable to an available USB port on your computer. Note: The USB pigtail must be connected to the host computer for data transmission and to supply power to the KVM switch.
  5. Connect Peripherals (Optional): If you wish to share additional USB devices (e.g., printer, USB disk), connect them to the remaining USB 2.0 ports on the front panel.
  6. Connect Wired Desktop Selector (Optional): Plug the wired desktop selector into the "CONTROL" port on the front panel for alternative switching.

Operating Instructions

The Yinker HDMI 8-Port KVM Switch offers three convenient methods for switching between connected computers:

1. Front Panel Button Switching

Simply press the numbered buttons (1-8) located on the front panel of the KVM switch to directly select the corresponding computer port. The LED indicator for the active port will illuminate, confirming your selection.

2. Wired Desktop Selector Switching

For convenience, especially when the KVM switch is rack-mounted or not easily accessible, use the wired desktop selector. Press the numbered buttons on the selector to choose the desired computer. This provides a flexible control option.

3. IR Remote Control Switching

Point the IR remote control towards the "IR RX" sensor on the front panel of the KVM switch and press the corresponding numbered button (1-8) to switch to the desired computer. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the IR receiver for reliable operation.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your KVM switch.

  • Storage: Keep the KVM switch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, excessive humidity, and heat sources.
  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the device with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners, as they may damage the unit.
  • Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation around the KVM switch, especially if it is rack-mounted, to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
  • Physical Care: Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the KVM switch to prevent physical damage. Handle all cables and connectors with care.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Yinker HDMI 8-Port KVM Switch, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

No Video Output / Black Screen

  • Cable Connections: Verify that all HDMI cables are securely connected between the KVM switch, your computers, and the monitor. Loose connections are a common cause of display issues.
  • Power & Input Selection: Ensure the KVM switch is powered on and the correct input port for the desired computer is selected (indicated by the LED).
  • Direct Connection Test: Try connecting the problematic computer directly to the monitor (bypassing the KVM switch) to confirm that the computer's video output and the monitor itself are functioning correctly.
  • Resolution Settings: Check the resolution settings on your computer. The KVM switch supports resolutions up to 4K (3840x2160) at 30Hz. Ensure your computer's output resolution is compatible.
  • Output Cable: Confirm that the provided 4K@60Hz HDMI cable is used for the connection from the KVM's "HDMI OUT" port to your monitor.

Keyboard or Mouse Not Working

  • USB Cable Connections: Ensure the USB cables from all computers are connected to the "USB IN" ports on the KVM switch.
  • Peripheral Connections: Verify that your keyboard and mouse are connected to the dedicated USB 2.0 ports on the front panel of the KVM switch.
  • Direct Connection Test: Try connecting the keyboard and mouse directly to the computer to confirm they are functional independently of the KVM switch.
  • USB Pigtail: Ensure the USB pigtail from each integrated KVM cable is securely connected to the respective host computer. This connection is crucial for both data transmission and power supply to the KVM.
  • Specialized Peripherals: Some specialized gaming keyboards/mice with advanced features or specific drivers may require direct connection to the computer or may not be fully compatible with KVM switches.

Switching Issues

  • IR Remote Control: Confirm that the IR remote control has fresh batteries and that there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the KVM's "IR RX" sensor.
  • Wired Desktop Selector: Ensure the wired desktop selector is securely connected to the "CONTROL" port on the front panel.
  • Alternative Switching: If one switching method is not working, try using another (e.g., front panel buttons instead of the remote or desktop selector) to isolate the problem.
