Auxiliary Handle Adjustment
The 360° side handle can be adjusted to provide optimal control and comfort for various drilling positions. Loosen the handle by twisting it counter-clockwise, adjust to the desired angle, and then tighten by twisting clockwise.

Bit Insertion (SDS-Plus Chuck)
This rotary hammer uses an SDS-Plus chuck system. To insert a bit, pull back the chuck collar, insert the SDS-Plus bit into the chuck until it stops, and then release the collar. The bit should have a slight amount of play (in-and-out movement) once inserted, which is normal for SDS-Plus systems.

Operating Instructions
Operating Modes
The DCH172D2 offers multiple operating modes for versatility:
- Rotary Drilling Mode: For drilling in wood, metal, and plastic without hammering action.
- Hammer Drilling Mode: For drilling in concrete, masonry, and stone with hammering action.
Select the desired mode using the mode selector switch located on the side of the tool.

Drilling Techniques
- Apply firm, steady pressure to the tool. Do not force the drill.
- For concrete drilling, ensure the SHOCKS ACTIVE VIBRATION CONTROL System is engaged for optimal performance and reduced vibration.
- When drilling overhead or in dusty environments, attach a compatible dust extractor system (e.g., DWH200D shroud and DWH161D1 dust extractor) to maintain OSHA Table 1 compliance and a cleaner workspace.
