tillvex Pool Cover Reel System (Model PARST-002)

Instruction Manual

1. Introduction and Overview

The tillvex Pool Cover Reel System is designed to simplify the deployment and retrieval of your pool cover. This system helps extend the lifespan of your pool cover by minimizing wear and tear associated with manual handling. Constructed from weather-resistant materials, it features a 5-part telescopic aluminum tube, adjustable from 1.05 to 6.15 meters, and robust ABS plastic side supports. It is suitable for various pool shapes, including round and rectangular pools, thanks to its 360-degree adjustable angle.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Read and understand all instructions before assembly and operation.
  • Keep children and pets away from the pool cover reel system during assembly and operation to prevent accidents.
  • Ensure the system is securely anchored to prevent tipping or movement.
  • Do not overload the reel with excessively heavy or large pool covers, as this may compromise stability and functionality.
  • Exercise caution when handling the telescopic tubes to avoid pinching fingers.
  • Regularly inspect all components for signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Do not use if damaged.

3. Package Contents

Please verify that all components are present before beginning assembly:

  • tillvex Pool Cover Reel System (telescopic aluminum tubes, side supports with crank)
  • Mounting accessories (screws, ground anchors)
  • 8x Mounting straps and clips for attaching the pool cover

4. Setup and Assembly

The tillvex Pool Cover Reel System is designed for easy assembly. Follow these steps for optimal installation:

  1. Prepare the Assembly Area: Lay all components on a flat, stable surface. Assemble the system horizontally to prevent bending the plastic receptacles.
  2. Assemble Telescopic Tubes: The system consists of 5 telescopic aluminum tube sections. For increased stability, ensure that each assembled rod section consists of two nested tubes. Adjust the overall length of the reel to be slightly longer than the width of your pool cover (between 1.05m and 6.15m). If necessary, the tubes can be shortened using a metal hacksaw.
  3. Lubricate Bearings: Apply silicone spray to the plastic ball bearings within the side supports. This will ensure smoother operation and extend the product's lifespan.
  4. Attach Side Supports: Connect the telescopic tube assembly to the side supports. The side supports feature a 360-degree adjustable angle for versatile positioning around your pool.
  5. Secure Tube Sections: The pre-drilled holes in the tubes are guides and do not contain threads. Mark your desired screw holes with a pencil. Using a 5mm drill bit, pre-drill into the smaller inner tubes, then insert and tighten the screws into the aluminum to secure the sections at your chosen length.
  6. Anchor the System: The reel system can be anchored to the ground using the provided screws or attached to the pool edge with mounting clamps and fixing screws. For ground anchoring, consider drilling the feet into a separate stone slab to avoid drilling into your patio.
  7. Attach Pool Cover: Use the 8 mounting straps and clips to securely attach your solar or protective pool cover to the reel. Ensure the cover is evenly distributed along the reel to prevent uneven winding.

5. Operating Instructions

Operating the tillvex Pool Cover Reel System is straightforward:

  1. Unrolling the Cover: To deploy the pool cover, simply pull the cover across the pool. The reel system's winding mechanism does not have a locking gear, allowing the cover to unroll smoothly as it is pulled.
  2. Rolling Up the Cover: To retrieve the pool cover, turn the crank handle on the side support. The cover will wind onto the telescopic tube. Ensure the cover rolls up evenly to prevent damage or tangling.
  3. Floating Covers: A floating bubble cover experiences minimal resistance on the water, making it very easy to push or pull across the pool. The pull on the reel system is low, ensuring smooth operation.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your tillvex Pool Cover Reel System:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the telescopic tubes and side supports with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  • Lubrication: Reapply silicone spray to the plastic ball bearings annually or as needed to maintain smooth operation.
  • Inspection: Regularly check all screws, connections, and mounting straps for tightness and wear. Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace any worn or damaged parts immediately.
  • Winter Storage: During the off-season, disassemble the reel system if desired, clean all components, and store them in a dry, protected area away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your tillvex Pool Cover Reel System, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Reel is difficult to turn or operate:
    • Check if the plastic ball bearings are dry. Apply silicone spray as described in the Maintenance section.
    • Ensure the pool cover is not excessively heavy or large for the reel's capacity. This reel is designed for standard solar and protective covers; excessively heavy or large covers may cause operational difficulties and potential damage.
    • Verify that the cover is attached evenly and not snagging on any part of the system or pool edge.
  • System feels unstable or wobbly:
    • Recheck all anchoring points and ensure screws are tightly secured.
    • Confirm that the telescopic tubes are properly nested and secured at the desired length.
    • Ensure the ground surface where the reel is anchored is level and stable.
  • Mounting attachments (straps/clips) break:
    • Inspect for proper installation and ensure the system is not overloaded.
    • Contact customer support for replacement parts if necessary.
