Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Hoomei HM-8380 Evaporative Air Cooler. This manual provides important information regarding the safe use, operation, and maintenance of your appliance. Please read it thoroughly before use and keep it for future reference.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Always ensure the appliance is placed on a stable, level surface.
  • Do not immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
  • Unplug the appliance from the power outlet before cleaning, filling, or performing any maintenance.
  • Keep the appliance out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not block the air inlets or outlets.

Control Panel

The control panel is located on the top of the unit and features intuitive button controls for various functions.

Water Tank and Level Indicator

The appliance features a removable water tank for easy filling and cleaning, along with a visible water level indicator.

Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the air cooler from its packaging. Retain all packaging materials for future storage or transport.
  2. Placement: Place the unit on a firm, level surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for proper airflow (at least 20 cm from walls or furniture).
  3. Caster Wheels: The Hoomei HM-8380 comes with integrated wheels for easy mobility. No assembly is typically required for the wheels.

  5. Filling the Water Tank:
    • Pull out the water tank from the bottom rear of the unit (refer to Figure 4).
    • Fill the tank with clean tap water. Do not exceed the "HIGHEST WATER LEVEL" mark.
    • If using ice packs (Figure 7), place them in the water tank before pushing it back into the unit.
    • Carefully push the water tank back into its position until it clicks securely.

  6. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

All functions are controlled via the buttons on the top panel (refer to Figure 3).

  1. Power On/Off: Press the ON/OFF button to turn the unit on or off.
  2. Fan Speed Adjustment: Press the Low, Mid, or High buttons to select the desired fan speed.
  3. Cooler Function (Evaporative Cooling):
    • Ensure the water tank is filled to an appropriate level.
    • Press the Cooler button to activate the evaporative cooling function. The indicator light above the button will illuminate.
    • Press the Cooler button again to deactivate this function.
    • Note: Do not use the Cooler function if the water tank is empty, as indicated by the "No water use is prohibited" warning on the control panel.
  4. Swing Function: Press the Swing button to activate the automatic oscillation of the internal louvers, distributing air more widely. Press again to stop the swing function.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your air cooler. Always unplug the unit before cleaning or maintenance.

  1. Cleaning the Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  2. Cleaning the Water Tank:
    • Pull out the water tank (Figure 4).
    • Empty any remaining water.
    • Clean the tank with mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly.
    • Dry the tank completely before reinserting it into the unit.
    • It is recommended to clean the water tank weekly, especially during frequent use, to prevent mold and mildew growth.
  3. Filter Cleaning: The unit includes a filter. Refer to the specific instructions for accessing and cleaning the filter, typically located behind the rear grille. Gently rinse the filter with water and allow it to air dry completely before reinstallation.
  4. Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, ensure the water tank is empty and clean, and the unit is dry. Store it in a cool, dry place, preferably in its original packaging.

Troubleshooting
