Setup Instructions

1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the backpack and all components from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage. Ensure all parts, including the Crux Reservoir and hydration tube, are present.

2. Filling the Crux Reservoir

  1. Open the reservoir's large fill port.
  2. Fill with water or your preferred hydration liquid. Do not overfill.
  3. Securely close the fill port, ensuring a watertight seal.

For a visual guide on filling and sealing the reservoir, please refer to the video below:

3. Inserting the Reservoir into the Pack

Locate the dedicated hydration sleeve inside the main compartment of the backpack. Slide the filled Crux Reservoir into this sleeve, ensuring the hose exits through the designated port at the top of the pack.

Operating Instructions

1. Drinking from the Bite Valve

To drink, gently bite down on the silicone bite valve and suck. Release the bite valve to stop the flow. Ensure the on/off lever on the bite valve is in the 'on' position for water flow.

2. Utilizing Cargo Pockets

The M.U.L.E. Pro 14 features multiple storage options:

  • Main Compartments: For larger items like extra layers or an e-bike battery.
  • Hip Belt Pockets: For quick access to small essentials like snacks or a phone.
  • Integrated Tool Roll: Located in a dedicated compartment for bike repair tools.

3. Attaching a Helmet

Use the external helmet carry straps or clips to secure your helmet to the outside of the pack when not in use.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Crux Reservoir

After each use, especially with sugary drinks, clean the reservoir thoroughly. Disconnect the tube and bite valve. Use warm water and mild soap, or a specialized cleaning tablet. Rinse thoroughly and hang to dry completely to prevent mold and mildew.

Refer to the 'Filling & Sealing the Reservoir' video in the Setup section for visual guidance on handling the reservoir.

2. Cleaning the Backpack

For general cleaning, wipe the exterior of the pack with a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, hand wash with mild soap and water. Do not machine wash or tumble dry, as this can damage the materials and coatings. Air dry completely away from direct sunlight.

3. Storage

Store the backpack and reservoir in a clean, dry place. Ensure the reservoir is completely dry before storage to prevent bacterial growth.

Troubleshooting

1. Bite Valve Leaking or Not Holding

If the bite valve leaks, ensure the on/off lever is fully in the 'off' position when not in use. Check the bite valve for any tears or blockages. If the magnetic trap is not holding the tube securely, ensure the magnet on the tube is properly aligned with the magnet on the sternum strap. Over time, magnets can lose some strength; consider replacing the bite valve assembly if issues persist.

2. Difficulty Inserting Full Reservoir

When the reservoir is full, it can be challenging to slide it into the hydration sleeve. Try to insert the reservoir before filling the main compartments of the backpack. Ensure the reservoir is not overfilled. If necessary, remove some items from the main compartment to create more space.

3. Straps Showing Wear

Regularly inspect all straps for signs of wear, fraying, or damage. While the 3D Vent Mesh Harness is designed for durability, extreme use can cause wear. If significant damage occurs, contact CamelBak customer support for repair or replacement options under warranty.
