Control Functions:

  • POWER/SLEEP: Short press to turn on/off. Long press to activate sleep timer.
  • BANDS: Press to cycle through FM, MW (AM), and SW (Shortwave) bands.
  • METE: Shortwave Meter button.
  • TUN+ / TUN-: Short press to scan up/down frequencies.
  • MEMO: Short press to confirm memory save/recall. Long press to enter time setting or station presetting mode.
  • M+ / M-: Use to navigate through saved station presets. Long press to set alarm.
  • TUNING Dial: Manual tuning for precise frequency selection.
  • VOLUME Dial: Adjusts the audio output level.
  • Headphone Jack (3.5mm Stereo): For connecting headphones.
  • DC5V Port: For connecting the USB power cable.

5. Setup

5.1 Powering the Radio

Your HRD-310 radio offers two power options:

  • Battery Power: Open the battery cover on the back of the radio. Insert two (2) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the battery cover securely.
  • USB Power: Connect the provided DC5V USB cable to the DC5V port on the side of the radio. Plug the other end into a USB power adapter (not included) or a compatible USB port on a computer or power bank.

6. Operation

6.1 Turning On/Off

Press the POWER/SLEEP button located on the top right of the radio to turn the unit on or off.

6.2 Band Selection

Press the BANDS button to switch between FM, MW (AM), and SW (Shortwave) frequency bands. The selected band will be displayed on the LCD screen.

6.3 Tuning Stations

  • Manual Tuning: Rotate the TUNING dial on the side of the radio to manually adjust the frequency.
  • Automatic Scan: Short press the TUN+ or TUN- buttons to automatically scan for the next available station.

6.4 Presetting and Recalling Stations

The radio can store up to 60 stations (20 for each band: AM, FM, SW).

  • To Save a Station (Manual):
    1. Tune to your desired station.
    2. Long press the MEMO button until the memory slot number flashes on the display.
    3. Use the M+ or M- buttons to select the desired memory slot.
    4. Press the MEMO button again to confirm and save the station.
  • To Recall a Saved Station: Short press the M+ or M- buttons to cycle through your saved stations.

6.5 Setting Alarm Clock

To set the alarm, long press either the M+ or M- button. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the desired alarm time. The radio can be set to automatically power on and play a selected radio station at the alarm time.

6.6 Using Sleep Timer

When the radio is on, long press the POWER/SLEEP button repeatedly to cycle through the sleep timer options (e.g., 90, 60, 30, 10 minutes, OFF). The radio will automatically turn off after the selected duration.

6.7 Backlit LCD Screen

The LCD screen features a blue backlight that illuminates automatically, making it easy to read the frequency and time in dark environments.

6.8 Headphone Use

For private listening, plug the included 3.5mm stereo headphones into the headphone jack located on the side of the radio.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as they may damage the finish.
  • Battery Care: If the radio will not be used for an extended period, remove the AA batteries to prevent leakage and corrosion.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Antenna Care: Handle the telescopic antenna gently to avoid bending or breaking.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your HRD-310 radio, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
