2.2 Initial Setup
- Place the desoldering station on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Connect the desoldering gun and soldering iron to their respective ports on the station. Ensure connections are secure.
- Place the M180 Professional Soldering Work Mat on your workbench to protect the surface from heat and provide an organized area for components.
- Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before plugging the station into a 110-127V AC power outlet.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Power On and Temperature Setting
- Flip the power switch to the ON position. The LCD display will illuminate.
- Use the temperature adjustment buttons (usually marked with ▲ and ▼) to set the desired temperature for the desoldering gun or soldering iron. The temperature range for the desoldering station is 662℉ to 896℉ (350℃ to 480℃).
- Allow the station to preheat. The station has a temperature stabilization function to maintain the set temperature steadily.
3.2 Desoldering Process
The desoldering station requires approximately 5 minutes to pre-heat the internal desoldering mechanism. During pre-heating, the vacuum pump will not activate to prevent premature desoldering and potential clogging.

Figure 3.1: Illustration of the desoldering gun's internal components and the 5-minute pre-heating function for optimal performance.
Nozzle Pre-Tinning: All desoldering nozzles come pre-tinned to protect against oxidation. This is a protective design and does not indicate a blocked nozzle.

Figure 3.2: Desoldering nozzles shown before and after use, illustrating the pre-tinned state and the process of extracting solder.
- Turn ON the station and allow it to preheat for approximately 5 minutes.
- Once preheating is complete, place the desoldering nozzle over the solder joint.
- Press the desoldering trigger to activate the vacuum and extract the molten solder. We recommend using the desoldering station at 662℉ to 700℉ (350℃ to 371℃) for most applications.
- Caution: Avoid keeping the nozzle on the solder pad for too long when using a high-temperature setting to prevent damaging the pad.
3.3 Soldering Process
When using the included soldering iron, proper temperature setting is crucial for effective soldering.

Figure 3.3: Guidelines for setting the optimal soldering temperature, considering solder melting point and heat reserve.
- Set the soldering iron/station temperature approximately 50℃ (90℉) above the solder's melting point for a better solder connection.
- Additionally, set the temperature an extra 100℃ (180℉) higher to provide a heat reserve for quick thermal recovery of the tip after the solder connection is made.
- For example, if using lead-free solder (Sn-Ag-Cu) with a melting point of 220℃, a recommended operating temperature would be 220℃ + 50℃ + 100℃ = 370℃.
4. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential for the longevity and efficient operation of your desoldering station. Always ensure the unit is powered off and cooled down before performing any maintenance.

Figure 4.1: Visual guide for routine maintenance, including cleaning the nozzle, heating element, filter tube, and vacuum system.
4.1 Desolder Gun Nozzle Cleaning
- Set the temperature to 752℉ (400℃).
- Once the temperature stabilizes, use the cleaning pin to clear out the nozzle.
4.2 Heating Element Cleaning
- Ensure the unit has cooled down. Remove the fastener, then the tip, vacuum, and nozzle.
- Turn ON the power and set the temperature to 752℉ (400℃).
- Once the temperature has stabilized, clean the heater with a cleaning pin.
- Caution: Be extremely careful when cleaning the nozzle and heating element at high temperatures. Risk of burn.
4.3 Filter Tube Maintenance
- Turn the power OFF. When the filter is cooled, remove the filter tube.
- Take out the filter and clean out any solder in the spring.
4.4 Vacuum Suction System
- Disconnect the vacuum pipe.
- Clean the cotton filter pad inside the connector as it can collect dirt. Replace if necessary.
- Also clean the ceramic filter pad inside the desolder gun or replace it.
5. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Station not powering on | No power supply; loose power cord; faulty power switch | Check power outlet and cord connection; ensure power switch is ON. |
| Desoldering gun not heating | Loose connection; faulty heating element; incorrect temperature setting | Check gun connection; verify temperature setting; contact support if element is faulty. |
| Poor vacuum suction | Clogged nozzle; dirty filter; vacuum pipe leak | Clean nozzle and filters as per maintenance section; check vacuum pipe for damage. |
| Temperature display error | Sensor issue; internal fault | Restart the station; if error persists, contact technical support. |
