1. Setup

This section provides instructions for the initial setup of your Peavey VYPYR® X3 Guitar Modeling Amp.

1.1 Unpacking and Placement

• Carefully remove the amplifier from its packaging. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or storage.
• Place the amplifier on a stable, level surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
• Keep the amplifier away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.

1.2 Connecting Power

• Ensure the amplifier's power switch is in the OFF position.
• Connect the supplied AC power cord to the power input on the rear panel of the amplifier.
• Plug the other end of the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

1.3 Instrument Connection

• Connect your electric, bass, or acoustic guitar to the Input jack on the front panel using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
• The VYPYR® X3 features a variable instrument input, allowing optimal performance with different instrument types.

1.4 Optional Connections

• Remote Switch: For enhanced control, connect an optional Peavey Sanpera™ footswitch to the Remote Switch jack on the rear panel. This is essential for looper functionality.
• USB: Connect the amplifier to a computer via the USB port for firmware updates or direct recording.
• Aux In: Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, phone) to the Aux In jack to play along with backing tracks.
• Headphones: For silent practice, connect headphones to the Phones jack.

2. Operating the Amplifier

The Peavey VYPYR® X3 offers extensive control over your sound. This section details its primary operational features.

2.1 Powering On/Off

• To power on, ensure all connections are secure, then flip the POWER switch on the rear panel to the ON position.
• To power off, flip the POWER switch to the OFF position.

2.2 Front Panel Controls Overview

The VYPYR® X3 features a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface, where LEDs around the knobs indicate their current settings for the active preset.

• Input: 1/4-inch instrument input.
• Presets Knob: Rotate to select different presets. Push to confirm selection.
• Model Presets Display: Shows current preset name, amp model, and other information.
• Pre-Gain: Adjusts the input gain before the amplifier model.

2.3 Amp Models and Effects

The VYPYR® X3 features 36 on-board amp models, including 6 acoustic and 6 bass amp models, along with 10 instrument models. It also includes 26 total on-board amp accessible effects, with 12 stompbox effects offering dual parameter control.

• Selecting Amp Models: Use the dedicated controls or the iOS app to browse and select from the wide array of amplifier models.
• Instrument Models: Transform your electric guitar sound to mimic an acoustic or bass guitar, or choose from up to 10 different instrument models available on the VYPYR® X3.
• Effects: Access and adjust various effects directly from the amplifier's front panel. The TransTube® technology ensures that the amplifier's processing power is dedicated to effects, allowing up to 5 effects to run simultaneously.

2.4 Bluetooth® Connectivity

The VYPYR® X3 supports Bluetooth® for remote control and audio streaming.

• Pairing: Activate Bluetooth® on your iOS device and search for the VYPYR® X3. Follow the on-screen prompts to pair.
• Remote Control: Use the Peavey VYPYR® Control app for iOS devices to change and store presets, and control all amplifier settings remotely.
• Audio Streaming: Stream backing tracks or your favorite music directly to the amplifier via Bluetooth®.

2.5 Looper Functionality

The amplifier includes an on-board looper. For full functionality, an optional Sanpera™ footswitch is required.

3. Maintenance

Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Peavey VYPYR® X3 Guitar Modeling Amp.

3.1 Cleaning

• Always disconnect the amplifier from the power outlet before cleaning.
• Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces.
• For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed immediately by a dry cloth.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish.

3.2 Storage

• When not in use for extended periods, store the amplifier in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
• If possible, use the original packaging or a protective cover to shield the amplifier from dust.

• Instrument Output: Ensure your instrument's volume and tone controls are set appropriately.
• Cable Integrity: A faulty instrument cable can introduce noise or distortion. Try a different cable.

4.3 Bluetooth® Connection Issues

• Pairing Mode: Ensure the amplifier is in Bluetooth® pairing mode (if applicable, refer to the app for specific instructions).
• Device Bluetooth®: Verify that Bluetooth® is enabled on your iOS device.
• Distance: Ensure your device is within the effective range of the amplifier's Bluetooth® signal.
• Interference: Move away from other wireless devices that might cause interference.
• Restart: Try restarting both the amplifier and your Bluetooth® device.
