4.2 Cooking Process
- Add ingredients and liquid to the pressure cooker. Ensure the fill level is appropriate (max 2/3 full, 1/2 for expanding foods).
- Place the lid on the cooker, aligning the lid with the handles.
- Twist the lid to lock it securely into place. Ensure the safety button on the handle engages.
- Place the pressure cooker on a compatible stovetop over medium to high heat.
- Once pressure builds, the main valve will begin to release steam. Reduce heat to maintain a steady, gentle steam release.
- Cook for the recommended time for your recipe.
- When cooking is complete, turn off the heat. Allow the pressure to release naturally, or use a quick-release method if specified by your recipe and safe to do so (consult specific recipe guidelines).
- Once all pressure has been released (the main valve indicator will drop), you can safely open the lid by pressing the safety button and twisting.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper care and maintenance will extend the life of your Universal Ultra Pressure Cooker.
5.1 Cleaning Instructions
- The pressure cooker is dishwasher-safe for hassle-free cleaning.
- For hand washing, use warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge or cloth.
- Thoroughly clean the lid, especially around the main valve, auxiliary valves, and sealing gasket, to prevent food particles from obstructing them. Use the provided easy-cleaning rod for the main valve.
- Rinse all parts thoroughly and dry completely before storing.
- Do not use steel wool or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the aluminum finish.
5.2 Storage
Store the pressure cooker in a dry place. It is recommended to store the lid inverted on the pot to allow air circulation and prevent odors.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your pressure cooker, refer to the common problems and solutions below:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure not building or steam escaping from lid edge. | Lid not properly sealed, gasket worn/damaged, or insufficient liquid. | Ensure lid is securely locked. Check gasket for proper placement and condition; replace if necessary. Add more liquid to the cooker. |
| Main valve not rising. | Insufficient heat, main valve clogged, or not enough liquid. | Increase heat. Clean the main valve and its opening. Ensure adequate liquid is present. |
| Lid cannot be opened after cooking. | Pressure still inside the cooker. | Do NOT force open. Allow all pressure to release naturally until the main valve indicator drops completely. If necessary, run cold water over the lid (avoiding valves) to cool and release pressure. |
| Food sticking to the bottom. | Not enough liquid or heat too high. | Ensure sufficient liquid for the recipe. Reduce heat once pressure is reached. |
