Installation Instructions

Locking and Unlocking

• From the Exterior: Insert the key into the keyhole and turn to lock or unlock the knob.
• From the Interior: Use the thumb turn located on the interior knob to lock or unlock the door.

SmartKey Security™ Re-keying

The SmartKey Security™ feature allows you to re-key your lock to a new Kwikset (KW1) or (SC1) keyway in seconds, providing convenience and enhanced security. This is useful if you lose a key, move into a new home, or want to consolidate multiple Kwikset locks to a single key.

1. Insert your functioning key into the lock and turn it 90 degrees clockwise.
2. Insert the SmartKey tool fully and firmly into the SmartKey hole.
3. Remove the SmartKey tool while leaving the functioning key in the lock.
4. Remove the functioning key.
5. Insert your new key fully and firmly into the lock.
6. Rotate the new key 180 degrees counter-clockwise.
7. Remove the new key. The lock is now re-keyed.
