5. Setup
5.1 Powering the Radio
Your GOLON RX-606 radio can be powered by either AC electricity or batteries.
Using AC Power:
- Ensure the radio's power switch is in the OFF position.
- Connect the provided power adapter to the AC power input jack on the radio.
- Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
Using Batteries:
- Ensure the radio's power switch is in the OFF position.
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the radio.
- Insert 2 AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage.
5.2 Antenna Adjustment
For optimal reception, especially on FM and Shortwave (SW) bands, extend the telescopic antenna fully and adjust its direction. For AM reception, the radio uses a built-in ferrite bar antenna, so antenna adjustment is less critical, but rotating the radio itself may improve reception.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Turning On/Off
Slide the Power Switch to the ON position to turn on the radio. Slide it to the OFF position to turn off the radio.
6.2 Adjusting Volume
Rotate the Volume Control knob to increase or decrease the sound level to your preference.
6.3 Selecting a Band
Use the Band Selector switch to choose your desired frequency band: AM, FM, SW1, or SW2.
6.4 Tuning to a Station
Once a band is selected, slowly rotate the Tuning Dial to scan through frequencies. Stop when you hear a clear broadcast. For FM and SW bands, adjust the telescopic antenna for best reception.
6.5 Using Headphones
To listen privately, plug standard 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack. The internal speaker will automatically mute.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the radio's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use for long periods, store the radio in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries before storage.
- Battery Replacement: Replace AAA batteries when the radio's performance degrades or if it fails to power on. Ensure correct polarity.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Radio does not turn on. | No power from AC adapter or dead batteries. | Check AC adapter connection and power outlet. Replace batteries if using battery power. |
| Poor reception/static. | Weak signal, antenna not extended, or interference. | Extend and adjust the telescopic antenna. Try rotating the radio. Move away from electronic devices that may cause interference. |
| No sound from speaker. | Volume too low, headphones connected, or speaker malfunction. | Increase volume. Disconnect headphones. If problem persists, contact support. |
