4. Setup and Installation

The FUFU Bamboo Roller Shades are designed for easy installation. Please follow these steps carefully.

4.1 Confirm Mounting Type Before Measuring

Before taking measurements, determine whether you will use an Inside Mount or Outside Mount installation. This choice affects how you measure your window.

• Inside Mount: The shade fits within the window frame. Requires a minimum window frame depth of 2 inches (5 cm). The shade width must be 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) narrower than the window opening.
• Outside Mount: The shade covers the entire window opening and frame.

4.2 Measurement Method

Accurate measurements are critical for proper fit and function. Use a steel measuring tape for best results.

• For Internal Installation (Inside Mount):
  • Curtain width = Window width (W) - 1 cm (0.4 inches)
  • Curtain height = Window height (H)
  • Note: Internal installation requires a minimum depth (D) of 7 cm (2.75 inches).
• For External Installation (Outside Mount):
  • Blinds width = Window width (W) + 20 cm (7.9 inches)
  • Blinds height = Window height (H) + 20 cm (7.9 inches)

4.3 Installation Steps (Punch-Free Method)

These shades are designed for a simple hook installation method, often referred to as "punch-free" for internal mounts.

1. Prepare the Window: Clean the area where the shade will be installed to ensure a secure attachment.
2. Attach Mounting Brackets: Secure the provided mounting brackets to the top of the window frame (for inside mount) or above the window opening (for outside mount) using the included screws. Ensure they are level and spaced correctly to support the shade's width.
3. Hang the Shade: Carefully align the top rail of the bamboo roller shade with the installed brackets. Hook the shade onto the brackets until it clicks securely into place.
4. Test Operation: Gently pull the rope to ensure the shade rolls up and down smoothly. Adjust if necessary.

Note: The lift chain is typically installed on the right-hand side. If you require it on the left, this must be specified at the time of order.

5. Operating Instructions

Your FUFU Bamboo Roller Shade is operated using a simple pull rope mechanism.

• To Lower the Shade: Gently pull the rope downwards and slightly towards the center of the shade. The shade will begin to unroll. Release the rope at your desired height.
• To Raise the Shade: Pull the rope downwards and slightly towards the outside edge of the shade. The shade will begin to roll upwards. Release the rope when the shade reaches the desired height.
• Locking Mechanism: The shade features an internal locking mechanism. To lock the shade in place, simply release the rope when the shade is at the desired position. To unlock, give a slight tug on the rope to release the tension.

6. Maintenance and Care

Proper care will extend the life and beauty of your bamboo roller shades.

• Cleaning: Dust the shades regularly with a soft cloth or a feather duster. For deeper cleaning, gently wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid excessive moisture, as bamboo is a natural material. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Moisture Control: While the bamboo is treated against mildew and moisture, avoid prolonged exposure to high humidity or direct water. If used outdoors, ensure they are protected from heavy rain.
• Sun Exposure: Although designed for light filtering, prolonged direct intense sunlight may cause natural fading over time.
• Inspection: Periodically inspect the pull rope and mounting hardware for any signs of wear or damage.
