5. Setup Guide
5.1 Choosing a Mode
The BeWlaner Wi-Fi Repeater supports two main operating modes:
- Repeater Mode: Extends the range of an existing wireless network. This is the most common use case.
- Access Point (AP) Mode: Converts a wired network connection into a wireless one. Useful for adding Wi-Fi capability to a wired-only router or network switch.

Figure 2: Repeater Mode and AP Mode connection diagrams.
This diagram visually explains the two operational modes. In Repeater Mode, the device wirelessly connects to your existing router and extends its signal. In AP Mode, the device connects to your router via an Ethernet cable and creates a new Wi-Fi network.
5.2 Web Browser Setup (Recommended for Repeater Mode)
Follow these steps to configure your Wi-Fi Repeater using a web browser:
- Plug In: Plug the Wi-Fi Repeater into a power outlet near your main router. Wait for the Power LED to turn solid green.
- Connect to Repeater's Wi-Fi: On your computer or smartphone, search for available Wi-Fi networks. Connect to the network named "Wi-Fi Repeater" or similar (it will not have internet access initially).
- Open Web Browser: Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari) and enter 192.168.10.1 in the address bar.
- Login: Enter the default username and password, which are usually admin for both.
- Select Mode: On the setup page, select "Repeater Mode".
- Scan for Networks: The repeater will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list.
- Enter Password: Enter the Wi-Fi password for your home network. You can also choose to change the repeater's SSID (network name) or keep it the same as your main network.
- Apply Settings: Click "Apply" or "Save". The repeater will restart.
- Relocate: Once the repeater restarts, unplug it and move it to a location halfway between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone. Ensure the Wireless LED is solid green, indicating a good connection.

This image illustrates the process of setting up the Wi-Fi Repeater using a smartphone's web browser. It shows the steps from connecting to the repeater's network, accessing the setup page via IP address, logging in, selecting Repeater Mode, scanning for networks, entering the password, and confirming the setup.
5.3 WPS Setup (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
If your router supports WPS, you can use this method for a quick setup:
- Plug In: Plug the Wi-Fi Repeater into a power outlet near your main router.
- Press WPS on Repeater: Press the WPS button on the Wi-Fi Repeater. The WPS LED will start blinking.
- Press WPS on Router: Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your main Wi-Fi router.
- Wait for Connection: Wait for the WPS LED on the repeater to turn solid green, indicating a successful connection.
- Relocate: Unplug the repeater and move it to an optimal location between your router and the desired coverage area.

6. Operating the Repeater
6.1 Optimal Placement
For best performance, place the Wi-Fi Repeater in a location where it can receive a good signal from your main router and also effectively transmit to the areas needing coverage. Avoid placing it near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.

Figure 5: Wi-Fi coverage extension with the repeater.
This diagram illustrates how the BeWlaner Wi-Fi Repeater extends the wireless coverage within a multi-story home. It shows the original router's coverage (grey) and the expanded coverage provided by the repeater (blue), reaching areas that were previously dead zones.
6.2 Connecting Devices
Once the repeater is successfully set up, devices within its extended range can connect to the repeater's Wi-Fi network (if you chose a different SSID) or seamlessly roam if you kept the same SSID. For wired devices, connect them to the RJ45 port on the repeater using an Ethernet cable.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Ventilation: Ensure the device is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating.
- Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Solution |
|---|---|
| Cannot access the web management page (192.168.10.1). | Ensure your device is connected to the repeater's Wi-Fi network (e.g., "Wi-Fi Repeater"). Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser. Temporarily disable any VPN or firewall software. |
| No internet access after setup. | Check if the repeater's Wireless LED is solid green. If not, the connection to the main router is weak or failed. Try relocating the repeater closer to the router. Verify the Wi-Fi password entered during setup is correct. |
| Weak signal or frequent disconnections. | Relocate the repeater to an optimal position, halfway between your router and the desired coverage area. Avoid physical obstructions and sources of interference. |
| WPS setup failed. | Ensure your router supports WPS. Try pressing the WPS buttons on both devices within the 2-minute window. If it continues to fail, use the web browser setup method. |
| Forgot login password for web management. | Perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the Reset button for 5-8 seconds. This will revert the login credentials to default (admin/admin). |
