CAMLOCKbox Theft-Deterrent Powder-Coated Steel Security Box (Model 17250)

Product Overview

The CAMLOCKbox Security Box is designed to provide robust protection for your trail cameras, specifically compatible with Fusion Trail Cameras. Constructed from heavy 16-gauge steel, this box safeguards your camera from environmental elements, potential theft, and damage caused by animals. Its design ensures a snug fit for the camera, allowing for easy removal and installation without disturbing the camera's original positioning.

Key Features

  • Steel Construction: Manufactured from heavy 16-gauge steel for durability and an exact camera fit.
  • Powder Coating: Features a durable Camo Break-up powder coating to protect against natural elements.
  • Versatile Attachment Options: Can be secured using lag bolts, bungees, or belts to a tree or other stable surface.
  • Lock Compatibility: Fully compatible with 5/16 inch Python cable locks and standard padlocks for enhanced security.
  • Theft Deterrent: Designed to deter theft and protect the camera from animal interference.
  • External Power Access: Includes pre-cut holes for convenient external power hookup to your trail camera.

Setup and Installation

  1. Prepare the Camera: Ensure your Fusion Trail Camera is ready for deployment.
  2. Insert Camera: Carefully slide your trail camera into the CAMLOCKbox security enclosure. The design ensures a snug fit.
  3. Secure the Box:
    • Lag Bolt Method: Use lag bolts through the designated holes to secure the box firmly to a tree or post.
    • Belt/Bungee Method: Utilize a belt or bungee cord through the appropriate slots to strap the box to a tree. This method is ideal for public lands where tree defacement is prohibited.
  4. Apply Lock: For added security, thread a 5/16 inch Python cable lock or a standard padlock through the designated locking points.
  5. External Power (Optional): If using external power, route the cable through the pre-cut holes in the box to connect to your camera.

Once the box is secured, the camera can be removed or re-inserted without needing to re-position the entire security box, maintaining your camera's original field of view.

Operating Instructions

The CAMLOCKbox security box operates passively by providing a protective enclosure for your trail camera. Once installed, ensure the camera is properly seated within the box and any chosen locking mechanism (padlock or Python cable) is securely fastened. The box's design allows for full functionality of the camera, including lens operation and external power access, while providing physical protection.

To access the camera for battery changes or SD card retrieval, simply unlock and open the box. The camera can then be removed and re-inserted without affecting the box's mounted position.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe down the exterior of the security box with a damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, or debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the powder coating.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the box for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion, especially around attachment points and hinges.
  • Lock Mechanism: Ensure any locks used with the box are functioning correctly and are free of rust or debris. Lubricate if necessary.
  • Powder Coating: The powder coating is designed for durability. If significant scratches or chips occur, consider touch-up paint to prevent rust, especially in humid environments.

Troubleshooting

  • Camera Does Not Fit: Ensure your trail camera is a Stealth Cam Fusion model or a compatible size. This box is specifically designed for a snug fit with Fusion cameras.
  • Difficulty Locking: Check that the camera is fully seated within the box and that the locking mechanism (padlock or cable) is correctly aligned with the designated holes. Ensure the lock itself is not jammed or corroded.
  • Box Feels Loose: Re-tighten lag bolts or adjust the tension of the belt/bungee used for attachment. Ensure the mounting surface (e.g., tree) is stable.
  • External Power Cable Issues: Verify the cable is correctly routed through the access holes and securely connected to the camera. Ensure the cable is not pinched by the box.
