  1. Objective Lens: The large lenses at the front of the binoculars that gather light.
  2. 1/4 Screw Hole Cover: A threaded hole typically used for mounting the binoculars on a tripod adapter.
  3. M56 Filter Thread: A thread on the objective lens barrel for attaching various filters (e.g., light pollution filters).
  4. Lens Belt Installation Location: Area for attaching a neck strap or lens belt.
  5. Eyepiece: The lenses you look through to view the magnified image.
  6. Focus of Eyepiece: The mechanism on each eyepiece used to adjust individual focus.

Setup

1. Adjusting Pupillary Distance

Before using your binoculars, you must adjust the interpupillary distance (the distance between the centers of your pupils) to match your eyes. Hold the binoculars firmly and adjust the hinge between the two barrels until you see a single, perfectly circular field of view. The adjustable range for pupillary distance is 58mm to 81mm.

2. Adjusting Diopter

The SKY ROVER 2X54 binoculars feature individual eyepiece focus. To achieve a clear image, adjust the diopter for each eyepiece separately. Rotate the diopter adjustment ring on each eyepiece until the image appears sharp and clear. The diopter range is -350 degrees to +250 degrees.

Operation

Once the pupillary distance and diopter are set, your binoculars are ready for use. Point the binoculars towards your desired celestial object or constellation. Due to their wide field of view, these binoculars are excellent for sweeping across the night sky to observe large star fields and entire constellations, providing a unique perspective compared to higher magnification instruments.

The M56 filter thread on the objective lens allows for the attachment of various astronomical filters (sold separately) to enhance your viewing experience, such as light pollution reduction filters for observing in urban areas.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning Lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optics. Gently wipe the lens surfaces. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of lens cleaning fluid applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens.
  • Storage: When not in use, store your binoculars in the provided carrying case to protect them from dust, moisture, and impacts. Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose the binoculars to extreme heat or cold, as this can damage the optical components and coatings.

Troubleshooting

Blurred Image:

  • Ensure the pupillary distance is correctly adjusted for your eyes.
  • Re-adjust the diopter on each eyepiece until the image is sharp.
  • Check if the objective lenses or eyepieces are dirty and clean them carefully if necessary.

Double Image:

  • This usually indicates incorrect pupillary distance. Adjust the hinge until the two images merge into one circular field of view.
