To ensure optimal performance and longevity, keep your router clean:
- Disconnect the power adapter before cleaning.
- Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the device.
- Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
- Keep ventilation openings clear of dust and debris.
8. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Tenda HG6 router.
8.1 No Internet Access
- Check LED Indicators: Ensure the PWR, PON, and WLAN LEDs are solid green. If LOS is red, there's an issue with the optical fiber connection or ISP signal.
- Cable Connections: Verify that all cables (optical fiber, Ethernet) are securely connected to the correct ports.
- ISP Configuration: Confirm that your ISP has activated your service and that the router's WAN settings (configured via the web interface) match your ISP's requirements. Some ISPs, like BSNL FTTH, may require specific firmware or configurations not supported by default. Contact your ISP for specific settings.
- Restart Device: Power off the HG6, wait 10 seconds, then power it back on.
8.2 Weak Wi-Fi Signal or Limited Range
- Router Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions (thick walls, metal objects) and interference sources (microwaves, cordless phones).
- Antenna Orientation: Ensure the antennas are positioned vertically for optimal signal dispersion.
- Interference: Other Wi-Fi networks or electronic devices can cause interference. Try changing the Wi-Fi channel in the router's wireless settings.
8.3 Cannot Access Web Management Interface
- IP Address: Ensure you are typing the correct default IP address (192.168.1.1) into your browser.
- Network Connection: Verify your computer is connected to the router via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
- IP Address Conflict: Ensure your computer's IP address is set to obtain automatically (DHCP) or is within the same subnet as the router.
- Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking access.
- Reset Router: If all else fails, perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the Reset button for 5-10 seconds. Warning: This will erase all your custom settings.
