1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your KUMU RFID Outdoor Waterproof Metal Door Access Control System. This comprehensive system is designed for secure access management in various environments, including homes, offices, apartments, and factories.

The system includes a metal access control keypad, power supply, electric drop bolt lock, rainproof cover, exit button, and 15 RFID keyfobs. It supports up to 1000 users and offers multiple access methods: RFID card, password, or a combination of RFID card and password.

2. System Components

The KUMU Access Control System includes the following main components:

  • RFID Access Control Keypad: Metal keypad with backlight, WG26 interface, and 2 relay outputs.
  • Power Supply: Converts AC input to DC12V/3A for system operation.
  • Electric Drop Bolt Lock: Fail-safe lock (locked when powered, unlocked when power is off).
  • Rainproof Cover: Plastic cover for outdoor installation of the keypad.
  • Exit Button: For convenient egress from the secured area.
  • RFID Keyfobs: 15 pre-programmed 125 KHz RFID cards for user access.

3. Installation and Setup

Careful installation is crucial for the proper functioning and security of the system. Please follow these steps:

3.1 Component Placement

  • Access Control Keypad: Mount the keypad at a convenient height near the door. If installing outdoors, use the provided rainproof cover.
  • Electric Drop Bolt Lock: Install the lock on the door frame and the strike plate on the door, ensuring proper alignment for secure locking.
  • Power Supply: Mount the power supply in a secure, dry location, preferably indoors.
  • Exit Button: Install the exit button on the inside of the door, allowing easy exit.

3.2 Wiring Diagram

Connect all components according to the wiring diagram below. Ensure all connections are secure and correctly matched to avoid damage to the system.

Key Wiring Connections:

  • Power Supply to Access Controller: Connect DC12V output from the power supply to the +12V and GND terminals on the access controller.
  • Access Controller to Electric Lock: Connect the lock control terminals (e.g., NO/NC/COM) on the access controller to the corresponding terminals on the electric drop bolt lock. The lock is fail-safe, meaning it locks when powered and unlocks when power is cut.
  • Exit Button to Access Controller: Connect the exit button to the PUSH/NO and GND terminals on the access controller.
  • AC Input: Connect the power supply to an AC110-260V power source.

4. Operating Instructions

The system supports 1000 user cards and offers three modes for door access: RFID card, password, or a combination of RFID card and password. All programming is performed directly on the access control keypad.

4.1 Initial Setup and Master Code

Upon first power-up, you may need to set a master programming code. Refer to the specific keypad model's detailed programming guide for this step. Typically, the default master code is 123456 or 888888.

4.2 Adding Users

To add new users (RFID cards or passwords):

  1. Enter the master programming code followed by '#'.
  2. Press '1' to enter user adding mode.
  3. For RFID cards: Present the RFID card to the keypad. The keypad will beep to confirm.
  4. For passwords: Enter a 4-6 digit password, then press '#'. Repeat the password and press '#' to confirm.
  5. To exit programming mode, press '#'.

4.3 Deleting Users

To delete users (RFID cards or passwords):

  1. Enter the master programming code followed by '#'.
  2. Press '2' to enter user deleting mode.
  3. For RFID cards: Present the RFID card to be deleted to the keypad. The keypad will beep to confirm deletion.
  4. For passwords: Enter the password to be deleted, then press '#'.
  5. To exit programming mode, press '#'.

4.4 Accessing the Door

  • Using RFID Card: Present a registered RFID card to the keypad. The door will unlock.
  • Using Password: Enter your registered password followed by '#'. The door will unlock.
  • Using RFID Card + Password: Present your registered RFID card, then enter your password followed by '#'. The door will unlock.
  • Using Exit Button: Press the exit button from inside the secured area to unlock the door for egress.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your access control system.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the keypad and other components with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Connection Check: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion or damage.
  • Lock Mechanism: Ensure the electric drop bolt lock operates smoothly. Keep the lock mechanism free from obstructions.
  • Rainproof Cover: Verify the rainproof cover is securely in place and free from cracks or damage to maintain its protective function.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KUMU Access Control System, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Door does not unlock:
    • Check power supply connections.
    • Ensure the RFID card or password is correctly entered and registered.
    • Verify the electric lock wiring and functionality.
    • Check if the lock is receiving power.
  • Keypad is unresponsive:
    • Check the power supply to the keypad.
    • Ensure all wiring to the keypad is secure.
  • RFID card not recognized:
    • Ensure the card is properly registered in the system.
    • Verify the card is a 125 KHz RFID type.
    • Check for any interference near the keypad.
  • Exit button does not work:
    • Check the wiring connections of the exit button to the access controller.
    • Ensure the button itself is not physically damaged.
