Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install your RECOIL SPB69 speaker baffles:

  1. Prepare the Speaker Opening: Carefully remove your car's door panel and existing speaker. Clean the speaker mounting area to ensure a proper seal.
  2. Position the Silicone Baffle: The RECOIL silicone baffle is designed to create a tight and secure seal around your speaker. Its soft silicone material reduces panel-to-frame and door panel reverberation and road noise. The front ring of the baffle is foldable to guide the sound wave into the vehicle cabin.

  1. Install the Speaker: Place your speaker into the baffle. The baffle's design accommodates various speaker sizes and depths. The bottom half of the baffle can be folded twice or trimmed for simple customization to match the proper mounting depth without altering audio performance.
  2. Add Egg Crate Foam: The included egg crate foam helps create a barrier between the speaker and the metal door, improving sound by preventing sound waves from bouncing back. Place this foam behind the speaker.

Maintenance

The RECOIL silicone baffles are engineered for durability and require minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect the baffles for any signs of wear or damage. The silicone material is highly durable and resistant to environmental factors. No special cleaning is required; a damp cloth can be used if necessary.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues after installation, consider the following:

  • Reduced Sound Quality: Ensure the baffle is properly seated and sealed around the speaker and against the door panel. Check that the egg crate foam is correctly positioned behind the speaker.
  • Improper Fit: Verify that the baffle size matches your speaker (6x9 inches). Adjust the foldable bottom half of the baffle as needed to accommodate the mounting depth.
  • Water Leakage: Confirm that the baffle's folded-out portion is correctly positioned to divert water away from the speaker.
