Setup Instructions

  1. Connect Hoses: Attach a standard 3/4" garden hose to the inlet port and another to the outlet port of the pump. Use the provided brass connectors and sealing tape to ensure tight, leak-free connections.
  2. Attach Suction Strainer: Securely attach the hose filter (suction strainer) to the end of the inlet hose that will be submerged in the water source. This prevents debris from entering the pump.
  3. Priming the Pump: The pump must be primed before operation. Remove the priming plug located on the top of the pump. Fill the pump casing and the entire inlet line with clean water until full. Replace the priming plug securely.
  4. Positioning: Place the pump on a stable, dry surface near the water source. Ensure the pump motor will not get wet.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the pump's power cord into a 120V/60HZ AC GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protected electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Once the pump is properly set up and primed, it is ready for operation.

  1. Start the Pump: Turn on the power at the GFCI outlet. The pump will begin to draw water.
  2. Monitor Flow: Observe the water flow from the discharge hose. If no water flows or the flow is intermittent, turn off the pump, re-prime it, and check for any air leaks in the inlet line.
  3. Applications: This pump is designed for various water transfer tasks, including:
    • Emptying water heaters
    • Draining swimming pools
    • Transferring water from livestock tanks or boats
    • Intermittent pressure boosting for tasks like washing cars or cleaning driveways
  4. Stop the Pump: When the water transfer is complete or the water source is depleted, turn off the power to the pump.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your pump.

  • Drain After Use: Always tilt the pump and drain it completely after each use to prevent water from freezing and damaging internal components, especially in cold weather.
  • Clean Suction Strainer: Periodically inspect and clean the suction strainer to remove any debris that may impede water flow.
  • Impeller and Brushes: The pump comes with a replacement kit for the impeller and motor brushes. If you notice a significant decrease in performance or unusual noises, these components may need inspection or replacement. Refer to the detailed instructions provided with the replacement kit for proper installation.
  • Storage: Store the pump in a dry, protected area when not in use.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your pump, try these common troubleshooting steps:

  • Pump Does Not Start:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a working GFCI outlet.
    • Ensure the GFCI has not tripped. Reset if necessary.
    • Verify that the pump is properly primed with water.
  • Low Flow or No Water Output:
    • Re-prime the pump. Air in the system can prevent proper operation.
    • Check the inlet hose and suction strainer for clogs or blockages.
    • Inspect all hose connections for air leaks. Tighten as needed.
    • Ensure the water source is sufficient and the suction lift is within the pump's capabilities (max 20 feet).
    • Check the impeller for damage or obstructions.
  • Excessive Noise:
    • Some operational noise is normal for transfer pumps.
    • Ensure the pump is on a stable surface.
    • Check for air in the system; re-priming may reduce noise.
