2. System Requirements

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install your M.2 NVMe SSD onto the adapter card and then into your computer.

4.1. Installing the M.2 SSD onto the Adapter Card

  1. Prepare the Adapter: If necessary, remove the pre-installed standard PCI bracket by unscrewing it. Select either the standard or low-profile bracket based on your computer case and attach it to the adapter card using the provided screws.
  2. Install the SSD: Gently insert your M-Key M.2 NVMe SSD into the M.2 slot on the adapter card at a 45-degree angle. Push down the SSD until it is flat against the board.
  3. Secure the SSD: Use the small mounting screw and the brass standoff to secure the M.2 SSD in place. Ensure the SSD is firmly seated but do not overtighten the screw.
  4. (Optional) Install Heatsink: If using the included heatsink, apply the thermal pad(s) to the top of your M.2 SSD. Place the heatsink on top of the thermal pad(s) and secure it with the provided rubber bands or metal clips.

4.2. Installing the Adapter Card into the Computer

  1. Power Off: Ensure your computer is completely powered off and unplugged from the power source.
  2. Open Case: Open your computer case to access the motherboard.
  3. Locate PCI Express Slot: Identify an available PCI Express x1, x4, x8, or x16 slot. For optimal performance, use a slot that supports PCIe 3.0 or higher.
