4. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for safe operation. Ensure all components are present and undamaged before proceeding.
4.1 Unpacking:
- Carefully remove the hoist and all accessories from the packaging.
- Inspect for any shipping damage. If damage is found, do not use the hoist and contact the supplier.
- Verify all parts listed in the packing list are present.
4.2 Mounting the Hoist:
- Select a mounting location that is structurally sound and capable of supporting at least 5 times the maximum rated load (500 lbs x 5 = 2500 lbs).
- The mounting point should allow for clear operation of the hoist and unobstructed movement of the load.
- Attach the hoist securely using appropriate hardware (not included) to an overhead beam, trolley, or other approved lifting structure. Ensure all connections are tightened to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Verify that the hoist hangs vertically and is stable.
4.3 Electrical Connection:
- Ensure the power source is a standard 110V AC outlet.
- Connect the hoist's power cord to a grounded electrical outlet.
- DO NOT use extension cords unless absolutely necessary, and if used, ensure they are rated for the hoist's power requirements and are in good condition.
5. Operating Instructions
Before each operation, perform a pre-operational check as described in the Maintenance section.
5.1 Pre-Operation Checks:
- Confirm the hoist is securely mounted.
- Inspect the chain for kinks, twists, or damage.
- Check the hooks for deformation, cracks, or wear. Ensure safety latches operate freely.
- Verify the control pendant buttons (Up, Down, Emergency Stop) function correctly.
- Test the upper and lower limit switches by running the hook block to its extreme positions without a load.
5.2 Lifting a Load:
- Attach the load securely to the hook. Ensure the load is balanced and the hook's safety latch is closed.
- Stand clear of the load and the hoist.
- Press the "UP" button on the control pendant to slowly raise the load. Observe the load for stability.
- If the load is unstable, lower it immediately and re-secure it.
- Lift the load only as high as necessary. Avoid sudden movements.
- The hoist will automatically stop if the upper limit switch is activated.
5.3 Lowering a Load:
- Ensure the area below the load is clear.
- Press the "DOWN" button on the control pendant to slowly lower the load.
- Guide the load if necessary, but keep hands and body away from pinch points.
- The hoist will automatically stop if the lower limit switch is activated.
5.4 Emergency Stop:
- In case of an emergency or malfunction, immediately press the red "EMERGENCY STOP" button on the control pendant.
- To reset, twist the button clockwise and then release.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Strongway Mini Electric Chain Hoist.
6.1 Daily/Before Each Use:
- Visual Inspection: Check the entire hoist for any visible damage, loose fasteners, or signs of wear.
- Chain Inspection: Look for kinks, twists, corrosion, or stretched links. Replace damaged chain immediately.
- Hook Inspection: Check for bending, twisting, cracks, or excessive wear. Ensure the safety latch functions correctly.
- Control Pendant: Verify all buttons operate smoothly and the emergency stop functions.
- Limit Switches: Test both upper and lower limit switches without a load.
6.2 Monthly/After Heavy Use:
- Lubrication: Lightly lubricate the chain with a non-acidic, non-alkaline lubricant suitable for chains.
- Electrical Connections: Inspect power cord and control cable for fraying, cuts, or damage. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Brake System: Check the brake for proper function. If the load slips or drifts, the brake may need adjustment or service by a qualified technician.
6.3 Storage:
- When not in use, store the hoist in a clean, dry location, protected from dust and moisture.
- Ensure the chain is clean and lightly lubricated before storage.
Note: Any repairs or internal adjustments should only be performed by qualified personnel.
