Operating Instructions

Once installed, the TARARIUM JP-024F filter provides multiple functions for your aquarium:

  • Filtration: The double deep biochemical filter sponge effectively removes uneaten food, waste, decaying plants, detritus, and other fine floating particulates, reducing odor and yellowing of water.
  • Water Pumping: The powerful pump circulates water throughout the tank, ensuring even distribution of filtered water.
  • Wave Making: The filter's strong power creates water movement, increasing surface fluidity and promoting a healthy aquatic environment.
  • Air Supply: By inserting the oxygen tube, the filter can supply oxygen to the water, crucial for fish health.

Adjusting Airflow

The air tube features an inlet valve rotary button at its top. This button can be used to adjust the airflow into the tank. If you desire a quieter operation, it is recommended to turn down or close this rotary button.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficiency of your filter. The biochemical filter sponge is reusable after rinsing.

  • Filter Cotton Cleaning: Clean the filter cotton once a week.
  • Filter Cotton Replacement: Replace the filter cotton every two weeks for optimal filtration performance.
  • Rinsing: When cleaning, rinse the filter sponge thoroughly with aquarium water to preserve beneficial bacteria. Avoid using tap water directly as chlorine can harm the bacterial colony.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your filter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Excessive Noise:
    • Cause: The filter pump is not completely submerged in water.
    • Solution: Ensure the entire pump body is 100% submerged. This is critical for silent operation and to prevent damage.
    • Cause: Water entering the air tube.
    • Solution: Place the top of the air tube outside the aquarium. Adjust the inlet valve rotary button to reduce or close airflow if noise persists.
  • Diagram explaining causes of filter noise and proper submersion

  • Reduced Flow or Filtration:
    • Cause: Clogged filter cotton or media.
    • Solution: Clean or replace the filter cotton as per maintenance instructions.
    • Cause: Debris obstructing the pump intake.
    • Solution: Unplug the filter and carefully remove any debris from the intake area.
