3. Setup

3.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the scanner. Connect the provided Type-C USB cable to the scanner's charging port and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port. The charging indicator light will show charging status.

3.2 Powering On/Off

  • To power on: Slide the power switch (usually on the side) to the "ON" position.
  • To power off: Slide the power switch to the "OFF" position.

3.3 Bluetooth Pairing

The BCST-42-G connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0. Follow these steps to pair your scanner with a device:

  1. Ensure the scanner is powered on.
  2. Long press the 'M' button on the scanner until the blue LED flashes, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  3. On your host device (phone, tablet, or computer), go to Bluetooth settings.
  4. Search for available devices and select "BCST-42" from the list.
  5. Once connected, the blue LED on the scanner will become solid, and your device will confirm the connection.

4. Operating Modes

4.1 Normal Scan Mode

In Normal Scan Mode, scanned barcodes are immediately transmitted to your connected device. This is the default mode after pairing.

  • Ensure the scanner is paired with your device.
  • Open an application on your device where you want the scanned data to appear (e.g., a text editor, spreadsheet, or POS software).
  • Point the scanner at the barcode and press the scan button. The data will appear in your application.

4.2 Inventory Mode

Inventory Mode allows you to store scanned barcodes in the scanner's internal memory (up to 270,000 barcodes) and upload them later. This is useful for batch scanning without a constant connection.

  1. To enter Inventory Mode: Simultaneously press and hold the 'F' button and the 'M' button. The orange LED will flash once to confirm entry into Inventory Mode.
  2. Scan barcodes as needed. They will be stored internally.
  3. To exit Inventory Mode and return to Normal Mode: Simultaneously press and hold the 'F' button and the 'M' button again. The green LED will flash once to confirm return to Normal Mode.
  4. To upload stored data:
    • Ensure the scanner is paired with your device.
    • Enter Inventory Mode (orange LED flashing).
    • Scan the "Upload Data" QR code from the Quick-Setting Sticker or the user manual (page 55). The stored data will be transmitted to your device.
  5. To clear stored data:
    • Ensure the scanner is paired with your device.
    • Enter Inventory Mode (orange LED flashing).
    • Scan the "Clear Data" QR code from the Quick-Setting Sticker or the user manual.

5. Barcode Scanning

The BCST-42-G is designed to read a wide variety of barcodes efficiently.

5.1 Supported Barcode Types

The scanner supports all standard 1D barcodes and common 2D barcodes, including:

  • 1D Barcodes: UPC/EAN, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, Code 11, Interleaved 2 of 5, Industrial 2 of 5, Matrix 2 of 5, Standard 2 of 5, Codabar, MSI, GS1 DataBar, etc.
  • 2D Barcodes: QR Code, Data Matrix, PDF417, Aztec Code, Maxicode, etc.
  • Special Barcodes: Colored barcodes, inverted barcodes, GS1 barcodes.

5.2 Scanning from Screens

The scanner is capable of reading barcodes directly from digital screens, such as smartphones, tablets, and computer monitors. Ensure the screen brightness is sufficient for optimal scanning.

6. LED Indicators

The scanner uses LED lights to indicate its status:

8. Troubleshooting
