2.2 Device Components

3. Setup

3.1 SIM Card Installation

  1. Ensure the device is powered off.
  2. Locate the SIM card slot cover, usually on the side or bottom of the device. Gently open it.
  3. Insert a Nano-SIM card into the slot with the gold contacts facing down and the notched corner aligned correctly.
  4. Push the SIM card in until it clicks into place.
  5. Close the SIM card slot cover securely.

3.2 Initial Power On and Charging

  1. Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds until the screen lights up.
  2. Upon first use, it is recommended to fully charge the device. Connect the USB Type-C cable to the device and a compatible power adapter (Quick Charge 2.0 compatible for fastest charging).
  3. The screen will display the charging status.

3.3 Connecting Devices via Wi-Fi

  1. Ensure the APAL Raku is powered on and has an active internet connection (indicated by the network status on the screen).
  2. On your device (smartphone, laptop, tablet), open the Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Search for available Wi-Fi networks. The network name (SSID) and password are typically displayed on the APAL Raku's screen or on a label inside the SIM card compartment.
  4. Select the APAL Raku's SSID and enter the password when prompted.
  5. Once connected, your device should have internet access.

3.4 Connecting Devices via LAN Port

  1. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the APAL Raku.
  2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your device (e.g., desktop PC, smart TV, game console).
  3. The connected device should automatically obtain an IP address and gain internet access.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power button for approximately 3 seconds until the screen illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button for approximately 3 seconds. A power-off confirmation prompt will appear on the screen. Select "Power Off" to shut down the device.
  • To Wake Screen: Briefly press the Power button.

4.2 Screen Navigation and Status Indicators

The 2.4-inch color touch panel provides essential information at a glance. Swipe to unlock the screen and navigate through various menus to check:

  • Network Status: Displays 5G/4G LTE signal strength and connection type.
  • Data Usage: Shows current data consumption and remaining data (if applicable to your plan).
  • Battery Level: Indicates the remaining battery percentage and charging status.
  • Connected Devices: Shows the number of devices currently connected to the router.
  • Wi-Fi Name (SSID) and Password: Can be viewed on the screen for easy connection.

4.3 Accessing Web Management Interface

For advanced settings and configuration, access the web management interface:

  1. Connect your device (computer, smartphone) to the APAL Raku via Wi-Fi or LAN.
  2. Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) into the address bar. The exact IP address can usually be found in the device's settings menu on the screen or in the quick start guide.
  3. Enter the default username and password (typically admin for both, or as specified on the device label).
  4. From the web interface, you can configure Wi-Fi settings (SSID, password, security type), network modes (5G/4G preference), data limits, and other advanced features.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Power off the device before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior of the device.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosols, or solvents, as these may damage the device.

5.2 Battery Care

  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures (hot or cold) as this can degrade battery performance.
  • For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
  • If storing the device for an extended period, charge it to about 50% and store it in a cool, dry place.

5.3 Software Updates

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Factory Reset

If problems persist, you may perform a factory reset. This will restore the device to its original factory settings, including Wi-Fi name and password. All custom configurations will be lost.

  1. Ensure the device is powered on.
  2. Locate the small reset pinhole button (refer to the device diagram or quick start guide).
  3. Using a paperclip or a similar pointed object, press and hold the reset button for approximately 5-10 seconds until the device restarts.
  4. After the restart, the device will be reset to factory defaults.
