Setup
- Interpupillary Distance Adjustment: Hold the binoculars with both hands and look through them. Adjust the distance between the two barrels by moving them closer or further apart until you see a single, clear circular field of view.
- Diopter Adjustment: These binoculars feature individual eyepiece focusing. First, close your right eye and focus your left eye on a distant object using the left eyepiece's focus ring. Once the left eye is sharp, close your left eye and focus your right eye on the same object using the right eyepiece's focus ring. Both eyepieces are now set for your vision.
- Attaching the Neck Strap: Thread the provided neck strap through the strap lugs on each side of the binoculars. Adjust the length for comfortable carrying around your neck.
- Tripod Mounting: To mount the binoculars on a tripod, locate the tripod adapter port on the front hinge. Remove the cap and screw in a compatible tripod adapter (sold separately).
Operating Instructions
Focusing
As these binoculars use individual eyepiece focusing, once the diopter is set during initial setup, minor adjustments may be needed for objects at different distances. Simply rotate the individual eyepiece rings until the image is sharp for each eye.
Using the Rangefinder Reticle
The built-in rangefinder reticle allows you to estimate the distance to an object if its height is known, or vice versa. The reticle appears in the field of view of the right eyepiece. Align the reticle with the object and use the scale to calculate distance based on the object's known size.
Using the Illuminated Compass
The integrated compass provides directional guidance. To illuminate the compass for low-light conditions, press the button located on the top of the binoculars. The compass scale will light up, allowing you to read your bearing clearly.
Maintenance
- Cleaning Lenses: Use the provided lens cleaning cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the lens surfaces. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of lens cleaning fluid applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens. Avoid abrasive materials that can scratch the coatings.
- Waterproof Care: Although IPX7 waterproof, it is recommended to rinse the binoculars with fresh water after exposure to saltwater to prevent salt buildup. Ensure all caps are securely in place before rinsing. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
- Storage: Store the binoculars in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided carrying case for protection during transport and storage. Ensure lens caps are on to protect the optics.
- Rubber Armor: The durable rubber armor protects the binoculars from impacts. Clean with a damp cloth if necessary.
Troubleshooting
- Blurred Image: Ensure both interpupillary distance and individual eyepiece focus are correctly adjusted for your eyes and the object's distance.
- Double Image: Re-adjust the interpupillary distance until a single, circular field of view is achieved.
- Compass Not Illuminating: Check if the battery for the compass illumination is properly inserted and has sufficient charge.
- Fogging: If internal fogging occurs, it may indicate a seal compromise. Contact customer support. External fogging can be wiped away with a dry cloth.
