4. Setup and Programming

Follow these steps to program your LAWOHO 890MAX remote control to your garage door opener.

4.1. Step 1: Identify Your Garage Door Opener's Learn Button Color

You will need a stepladder to access your garage door opener motor unit. Locate the 'Learn' button on the motor unit. The color of this button is crucial for programming.

4.2. Step 2: Pre-program the Remote Control

  1. Press and hold the small 'program button' located at the bottom right of the remote control using a safety pin. Hold for approximately 3-5 seconds until the indicator light begins to flash (it will flash 4 times), then release the button.
  2. Choose one of the three remote control buttons you wish to use. Press this button a specific number of times based on your garage door opener's frequency or the color of its learn button:
    • Press 1 time for Security+ 2.0 (Yellow Learn Button)
    • Press 2 times for 315 MHz Security+ (Purple Learn Button)
    • Press 3 times for 390 MHz Security+ (Red or Orange Learn Button)
    • Press 4 times for 390 MHz Billion Code (Green Learn Button)
  3. After selecting the button and pressing it the required number of times, press the 'program button' two times to confirm. The indicator light will illuminate on the second press.

At this point, the remote control is pre-programmed. Proceed to the next step to sync it with your garage door opener.

4.3. Step 3: Sync with Your Garage Door Opener Receiver

  1. On your garage door opener motor unit, press and release the 'Learn' button. The learn indicator light on the motor unit will glow steadily for 30 seconds.
  2. Within these 30 seconds, press the remote control button (the same button you used in Step 2) until the light on your garage door opener flashes or you hear two clicks (if a light bulb is not installed).
  3. Test the remote by pressing the programmed button. The garage door should activate.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your LAWOHO 890MAX remote, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Remote not working after programming: Double-check that you selected the correct number of presses for your garage door opener's learn button color/frequency during Step 2 of programming. Repeat the programming steps carefully.
  • Remote has poor range: Ensure the battery is not low. Replace the battery if necessary (refer to Section 6.1). Obstructions between the remote and the garage door opener can also reduce range.
  • Indicator light not flashing during programming: Ensure you are holding the program button for the correct duration (3-5 seconds) and releasing it when the light starts flashing. If the battery is new, try replacing it.
  • Garage door opener not responding during syncing: Ensure the learn button on your garage door opener was pressed and its indicator light is glowing steadily before pressing the remote button. Make sure you are within the 30-second window.
