Congratulations on your purchase of the WaterBoss Water Softener System Model 700. This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your new water treatment system. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning the installation or using the product to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Proper installation of your unit and an accurate water test are critical to the operation of the system. Please follow this guide when you are ready to hook up the water softener to your main plumbing line.

3. Setup and Installation

This section guides you through the installation process of your WaterBoss 700 system. For a visual demonstration, please refer to the official installation video below.

Pre-Installation Checklist

• Ensure the placement area is clean and clear of obstructions.
• Turn off the electricity and water supply to your home. For gas water heaters, turn the gas valve to “Pilot.”
• Examine the inlet plumbing to ensure the pipe is not plugged with lime, iron, or any other substance. Clean or replace plugged plumbing as needed.
• A minimum 3/4-inch pipe is required between the system and the appliance for proper function.
• Make sure the inlet/outlet and drain connections meet applicable state and local codes.
• Check the arrows on the bypass valve to ensure water flows in the proper direction.
• Do not plumb the appliance in backward.
• Place the appliance in the desired location using the diagram as a guide. The diagram applies to basement, slab, crawl space, and outside installations.

Installation Steps

1. Step 1: Unbox Equipment and All Included Parts/Pieces. Take a moment to ensure all of the components are included in the box before you begin. Try not to tip the system on its side while removing the product from the box.
2. Step 2: Shut Off Water. To begin, shut off the main water coming into the home. Turn on a faucet at your sink, shower, or bathtub and let the water run to empty the lines and release the pressure inside your plumbing.
3. Step 3: Positioning Water Unit. Remove the cover to the unit and position the softener into place approximately 8 inches from the wall to provide adequate room for the hoses to protrude from the back.
4. Step 4: Connect the Flex Hoses. To use the flexible hoses provided, hard line plumbing must have 1-inch threaded connectors. Do not fully tighten at this point in case you have to make adjustments to the equipment later in the process. The hose should maintain a gradual bend. Any kinks or tight corners will restrict the flow of water.
5. Step 5: Repeat Steps for Out-Going Valve. This may require the need to cross your connections during the installation process. Pay close attention that you are fastening your plumbing properly.
6. Step 6: Connecting the Drain Line. It is recommended to wrap the threads of the drain line fitting with plumber's tape to prevent leaks (This step is optional). Attach the drain line fitting into the port on the side of the valve head and tighten. Do not over tighten because the plastic parts may break. Using the 1/2-inch tubing provided, connect one end to the drain line fitting. This will expel the water used during regeneration. To ensure the drain line stays in place for many years, you can attach a hose clamp. This part is not included with your system but can be found at most hardware stores. Route the tube to the nearest floor drain or suitable waste receptor, making sure there are no sharp bends or kinks in the tube that would restrict water flow. Ensure there is at least a 2-inch air gap between the drain line and the edge of the drain to prevent siphoning.
7. Step 7: Connecting Elbow to the Back of the Tank and Attaching Drain Line Tube. Locate the “Gravity Overflow Connection” elbow and attach to the back of the WaterBoss tank. Connect 1/2-inch tubing to the end of the elbow and run to the nearest floor drain. This tubing is not supplied with your purchase but can be found in most local hardware stores.
8. Step 8: Tightening Fittings with Wrench. Now that you have positioned all of the elements of your installation, tighten all connections and fittings to prevent any leaks.
9. Step 9: Turning the Knob to Put System into Bypass to Flush Water Lines. Your WaterBoss system is now properly connected. Before putting the system into operation, it is recommended that you flush the water lines. Turn on your main water supply valve and return to your nearest faucet, shower, or bathtub to turn on the cold water line to release any excess air. Let the water continue to run until the flow is steady and has a full stream. Check all connections to make sure there are no leaks present. Once complete, you will turn the knob to the Service position.
10. Step 10: Plugging in the Unit and Accessing the Button Controller. Plug the transformer into an outlet and connect the power cord to the appropriate port on the back of the control panel.
11. Step 11: Load Salt. Adding water softener salt is essential to the functionality of your WaterBoss system. Fill the salt cavity with clean white pellet, cube-style, or solar salts. You may fill the cabinet with as much as it can hold. Over time, the salt level will need to be replenished. For maximum effectiveness, never let the salt level be lower than the amount of water that is held in the tank.
12. Step 12: Replace the System Cover. Replace the system cover and your WaterBoss is now ready to provide high quality treated water throughout your home.

4. Operating Your WaterBoss System

Initial Programming and Hardness Setting

After plugging in your unit, you will need to program the hardness level based on your water test results. This ensures the system regenerates efficiently according to your specific water conditions.

1. Determine the hardness level of your water in Grains Per Gallon (GPG) by utilizing the test strips provided, referencing your municipality's water quality report, or using results from a local testing laboratory.
2. If your water has hardness and iron levels, add both amounts together to equal your Compensated Hardness. This adjustment will ensure that your system continues to run effectively.
3. Press and hold the SET button for 5 seconds until the number 25 displays. This is the default hardness setting.
4. Press the CHANGE button until the display matches your total Compensated Hardness level.
5. Press SET to save the number into your settings. Your WaterBoss softener is now programmed for your specific water needs.
