4. Installation Guide

4.1 Pre-Installation Considerations

  • Ensure a minimum of 6 inches of space from the top of the door to the ceiling for proper installation.
  • The door width should be the opening width plus 3-4 inches (8-10 cm).
  • The kit fits door panels with a thickness of 1 1/4" to 1 7/8" (3cm to 4.8cm).
  • The gap between the bottom of the door and the floor will be approximately 3/8" (1cm).

4.2 Track Assembly and Wall Preparation

When assembling the track, ensure proper alignment and support. For certain wall types, wooden anchors or a solid wood header board may be required.

Track Splicing and Support:

When connecting track sections, place wooden blocks under the track for support. A wooden block should also be placed above the rail connector to prevent damage when tapping it into place.

After installation, ensure the track is perfectly level to guarantee smooth door operation. Avoid misalignment situations where track sections are not flush.

If any track section is found to be bent before installation, do not proceed with installation and contact customer service immediately.

Wall Types and Wood Anchors:

Wood anchors are required for solid brick walls, hollow brick walls, and cement walls. They are not required for solid wood walls or walls constructed from a wooden frame.

Installing Wood Anchors:

Before installing wood anchors, drill holes in the wall with a diameter of 15mm (5/8") and a depth of 50mm (2"). Ensure the depth of the wall drilling is equal to or greater than the length of the wood anchors. If the wall drilling is too large, the wood anchors cannot be fixed. Tap the cork into the hole and then drill a 3mm (1/8") diameter, 50mm (2") deep hole in the center of the cork.

For walls where wood anchors are not needed (solid wood or wooden frame), drill holes directly into the wooden board with a diameter of 3mm (1/8") and a depth of 50mm (2").

Always mark and ensure horizontal alignment before drilling any holes.

4.3 Mounting the Track (Ceiling Mount Specifics)

This kit is designed for ceiling mounting. The following steps provide guidance for a secure installation:

  1. Assemble Track: Attach the door stoppers and connect the track sections using the provided connecting pins. Secure all L-brackets to the track with bolts and spacers, leaving one end L-bracket slightly loose for initial positioning.
  2. Mark Horizontal Line: Use a chalk line or painter's tape to mark a straight line on the ceiling parallel to the wall where the track will be installed. This ensures proper alignment of the L-brackets.
  3. Locate Joists: Use a stud finder to locate and mark your ceiling joists. It is crucial to mount the track into joists for adequate support, as the system will bear significant weight.
  4. Install First L-Bracket: Position one L-bracket on the ceiling, aligning it with your marked horizontal line and a joist. Mark the locations for the lag screws. Drill pilot holes (e.g., 5/32" for 4mm screws). Secure the L-bracket with two lag screws, but do not fully tighten, allowing for slight adjustment.
  5. Attach Track to First Bracket: Connect the track to the installed L-bracket using the provided bolt and spacer. Again, do not fully tighten. This allows the track to pivot slightly, aiding in aligning subsequent brackets.
  6. Mark Remaining Brackets: With assistance, hold the track level and mark the pilot holes for each remaining L-bracket, ensuring they align with ceiling joists. Drill pilot holes for these.
  7. Secure All Brackets: Drive the remaining lag screws into the ceiling joists through the L-brackets. Once all brackets are secured, tighten all bolts connecting the track to the L-brackets.
  8. Install Rollers: Attach the rollers to your door panel. When drilling through the door for the rollers, apply painter's tape to the opposite side to prevent tear-out and damage to the door's finish.
  9. Hang Door: With assistance, carefully lift and hang the door panel onto the installed track rollers.
  10. Install Floor Guide: Position and install the floor guide to prevent the door from swinging out. Consider a wall-mounted floor guide with rollers for better performance and to avoid drilling into the floor.

Note: The provided instructions are general. Always refer to the specific installation guide included with your product for precise measurements and detailed steps.

5. Operation

Once installed, your barn door should slide smoothly and quietly along the track. Gently push or pull the door to open and close it. The spring damping door stoppers are designed to provide a soft and comfortable stop at the end of the track, preventing abrupt impacts.

6. Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: Wipe the track and rollers periodically with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and debris that could impede smooth operation.
  • Lubrication: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the roller wheels and track surface annually, or as needed, to maintain smooth gliding. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically inspect all screws, bolts, and L-brackets to ensure they remain tight and secure. Tighten any loose fasteners immediately.
  • Door Stoppers: Check the door stoppers for proper positioning and function. Adjust if necessary to prevent the door from rolling off the track.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
