  2. Insert the Microphone: Gently place the USB condenser microphone into the shock mount. Ensure it is firmly held.
  3. Install the Pop Filter: Attach the metal gooseneck pop filter to the tripod stand or a stable surface. Position the pop filter approximately 2-3 inches in front of the microphone.

Operating Instructions

Once connected, your computer should automatically recognize the microphone as a USB audio device. No additional drivers are typically required for basic functionality.

  1. Select as Input Device: Go to your computer's sound settings (e.g., Windows: Sound Control Panel > Recording tab; macOS: System Preferences > Sound > Input). Select the Yanmai SF777 (or similar name) as your default input device.
  2. Adjust Microphone Level: Within your sound settings or recording software, adjust the microphone input level to an appropriate volume. Monitor the input to avoid clipping (distortion).
  3. Positioning for Optimal Sound: For best results, speak directly into the front of the microphone (the side with the Yanmai logo) at a distance of 6-12 inches (15-30 cm). The cardioid polar pattern is designed to pick up sound primarily from the front, reducing background noise.
  4. Use the Pop Filter: The pop filter helps to reduce plosive sounds (like 'p' and 'b' sounds) that can cause harsh audio spikes. Ensure it is positioned between your mouth and the microphone.
  5. Start Recording/Streaming: Open your preferred recording software, communication application, or streaming platform and begin your session.

Maintenance

Proper care will extend the life and performance of your microphone:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the microphone body and stand. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the microphone in a clean, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping the microphone or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this can damage internal components.
  • Cable Care: Do not bend or crimp the USB cable excessively. Always grasp the plug, not the cable, when disconnecting.

Troubleshooting
