4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Mounting Location
Choose a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and moisture. Ensure sufficient clearance around the unit for airflow (at least 20 cm on all sides). The mounting surface must be strong enough to support the inverter's weight (14.9 kg).
4.2 Wiring Instructions
WARNING: Ensure all power sources are disconnected before wiring. Incorrect wiring can cause damage to the unit or personal injury.
- Battery Connection: Connect the 24V DC battery bank to the DC INPUT terminals. Observe correct polarity (+ to + and - to -). Use appropriate cable gauges to handle the current.
- PV Input Connection: Connect your solar panel array (PV) to the PV INPUT terminals. Ensure the PV array's open circuit voltage does not exceed the maximum PV input voltage (150V).
- AC Input (Utility) Connection: Connect the utility grid power to the AC INPUT terminals (L and N). This allows the inverter to charge batteries from the grid and provide bypass power.
- AC Output (Load) Connection: Connect your AC loads to the AC OUTPUT terminals (L and N). Ensure the total load does not exceed the inverter's continuous power rating.
- Grounding: Connect the inverter's ground terminal to a reliable earth ground.
- Communication Ports: Connect RS485 for external communication or monitoring if desired.
4.3 Initial Power-Up
After all connections are secure and verified:
- Turn on the battery breaker/switch.
- Turn on the PV array breaker/switch.
- Turn on the utility AC input breaker/switch.
- Finally, turn on the AC output breaker/switch to power your loads.
5. Operating Modes and Functions
The UPOWER series offers flexible operating modes to suit various application needs.
5.1 Charging Modes
The inverter supports four charging modes:
- Solar Priority: Solar power is the primary source for charging batteries. Utility power is used only when solar power is insufficient.
- Utility Priority: Utility power is the primary source for charging batteries. Solar power is used only when utility power is unavailable.
- Solar and Utility: Both solar and utility power charge the batteries simultaneously.
- Only Solar: Only solar power charges the batteries. Utility power is not used for charging.
5.2 Output Modes
The inverter supports two output modes:
- Battery Priority: The inverter draws power from the battery first. If the battery voltage is low, it switches to utility power.
- Utility Priority: The inverter draws power from the utility grid first. If the utility power fails, it switches to battery power.
5.3 LCD Display and Button Operation
The 4.2-inch LCD provides comprehensive system information. Use the buttons (ESC, UP, DOWN, SET/ENTER, AC OUT) to navigate menus, view parameters, and adjust settings. Refer to the detailed menu structure in the full manual for specific operations.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your inverter.
- Periodic Inspection: Check all wiring connections for tightness and signs of corrosion at least once a year.
- Cleaning: Keep the inverter's ventilation openings clear of dust and debris. Use a dry cloth to clean the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Environment: Ensure the operating environment remains within specified temperature and humidity ranges.
- Battery Health: Monitor battery voltage and health regularly, especially if using lead-acid batteries.
7. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues. For complex problems, contact technical support.
