4.1 Installing the Guide Bar and Chain:
- Ensure the battery is removed from the chainsaw.
- Place the chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges are facing the correct direction (refer to chain markings).
- Fit the guide bar and chain onto the chainsaw body, aligning the chain with the drive sprocket.
- Engage the tool-free chain quick release mechanism to secure the guide bar and chain. Adjust chain tension as per instructions (usually a knob or lever). The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled freely by hand.
- Replace the sprocket cover and tighten securely.
4.2 Filling the Chain Oil Reservoir:
- Locate the red oil cap on the top of the chainsaw (refer to Figure 2.2).
- Unscrew the cap and carefully fill the reservoir with the provided 180 ml organic chain oil. Do not overfill.
- Securely replace the oil cap. The automatic chain oil system will lubricate the chain during operation. Regularly check the oil level.
4.3 Attaching the Battery:
- Ensure the chainsaw is switched off and the chain brake is engaged.
- Slide a charged Parkside X 20 V Team battery into the battery slot at the base of the chainsaw until it clicks into place.
- To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.
5. Operating Instructions
Before operating, ensure you have read and understood all safety instructions. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
5.1 Starting the Chainsaw:
- Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly installed.
- Disengage the chain brake by pulling the front hand guard back towards the handle.
- Press the safety switch (usually a button or lever on the handle) and then squeeze the trigger switch to start the chainsaw. Release the safety switch once the chainsaw is running.
5.2 Cutting Techniques:
- Felling Small Trees: For trees up to the length of the guide bar, make a directional notch on the side of the fall, then cut from the opposite side.
- Limbing: Remove branches from a fallen tree. Work from the base of the tree towards the top, cutting smaller branches first.
- Bucking: Cutting a fallen log into sections. Ensure the log is stable and supported. Be aware of pinching.

- File each cutter with consistent strokes at the correct angle.
- Ensure depth gauges are also maintained.
6.2 Guide Bar Maintenance:
- Clean the guide bar groove regularly to remove sawdust and debris.
- Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear.
- Check for burrs on the guide bar rails and file them smooth if present.
6.3 Cleaning:
- After each use, clean the chainsaw body, guide bar, and chain.
- Remove sawdust, resin, and oil residue using a brush or cloth.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
6.4 Chain Oil System:
- Regularly check the chain oil level and refill as needed.
