3. Setup and Installation
- Inspect the Cup: Before first use, inspect the cup and lid for any damage or manufacturing defects. Ensure the lid's sealing mechanism is intact.
- Clean the Cup: Wash the cup thoroughly with an appropriate cleaning solution for your coating material to remove any manufacturing residues. Rinse well and dry.
- Attach to Spray Gun:
- Ensure your spray gun is compatible with a female threaded gravity feed cup connection.
- Carefully thread the cup onto the spray gun's fluid inlet. Hand-tighten until secure. Do not overtighten, as this may damage the threads.
- Verify that the cup is firmly attached and does not wobble.

4. Operating Instructions
- Prepare Coating Material: Mix your paint or coating material according to the manufacturer's instructions. Strain the material to remove any impurities that could clog the spray gun.
- Fill the Cup:
- Remove the plastic push-on lid from the cup.
- Pour the prepared coating material into the cup. Do not overfill; leave some space for air displacement.
- Securely replace the push-on lid. Ensure it is seated properly to prevent drips and spills.
- Adjust Spray Gun: Refer to your spray gun's manual for proper air pressure and fluid control settings for your specific coating material.
- Begin Spraying: Hold the spray gun and cup assembly in a comfortable position. The gravity feed design ensures consistent material flow.
- Monitor Fluid Level: Periodically check the fluid level in the cup during operation to avoid running out of material mid-spray.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of your spray gun cup.
- Empty Remaining Material: After each use, empty any remaining coating material from the cup. Dispose of materials according to local regulations.
- Initial Rinse: Fill the cup with an appropriate cleaning solvent (e.g., paint thinner, water, or specialized cleaner depending on your coating). Swirl the solvent around and spray a small amount through the gun to flush the fluid passages.
- Disassemble and Clean:
- Remove the cup from the spray gun.
- Remove the lid.
- Thoroughly clean the inside and outside of the cup and the lid with cleaning solvent and a brush. Pay attention to the threads and sealing surfaces.
- Ensure all paint residue is removed.
- Rinse and Dry: Rinse all components with clean water (if applicable for your solvent) and allow them to air dry completely before reassembly or storage.
- Storage: Store the clean, dry cup in a safe place, away from dust and contaminants.
6. Troubleshooting
- Cup Leaks at Gun Connection:
- Ensure the cup is threaded correctly and tightened securely to the spray gun.
- Check for damage to the cup's threads or the spray gun's fluid inlet threads.
- Verify if an O-ring or gasket is missing or damaged at the connection point (if applicable for your spray gun model).
- Lid Does Not Seal Properly / Drips:
- Ensure the lid is fully seated and pushed down firmly onto the cup.
- Inspect the lid and the rim of the cup for any damage, debris, or dried paint that might prevent a proper seal. Clean thoroughly.
- Paint Flow Issues (Clogging):
- While not directly a cup issue, ensure paint is properly strained before filling the cup to prevent clogs in the gun.
- Ensure the cup's internal passages (if any) are clean and free of dried paint.
