1. Introduction

4. Hardware Overview

The AF60 LR unit consists of the main radio dish, an integrated antenna, and a mounting assembly. The device features an Ethernet port for data and power, a reset button, and LED indicators for status and signal strength.

5. Setup

5.1 Mounting the Device

  1. Select a Mounting Location: Choose a stable pole or mast that can support the device and provide a clear line of sight to the other end of the link.
  2. Attach the Mounting Bracket: Secure the precision alignment mount to the pole using the provided hardware. Ensure it is firmly tightened.
  3. Attach the AF60 LR: Slide the AF60 LR onto the mounting bracket until it clicks into place. Secure it with the locking mechanism.

5.2 Connecting Power and Data

  1. Connect Ethernet Cable: Remove the protective cover from the rear of the AF60 LR. Connect a shielded outdoor Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port.
  2. Connect to PoE Adapter: Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the 'PoE' port on the included Power over Ethernet (PoE) adapter.
  3. Connect to Network/Power: Connect another Ethernet cable from the 'LAN' port of the PoE adapter to your network switch or router. Plug the power cord into the PoE adapter and then into a power outlet.

5.3 Initial Configuration and Alignment

The AF60 LR can be configured using the Ubiquiti UISP™ mobile application via Bluetooth or through a web browser. For optimal performance, precise alignment between the two AF60 LR units is crucial. Use the integrated GPS and the alignment features of the UISP™ app or web interface to fine-tune the aiming until maximum signal strength is achieved.

6. Operating

Once installed and configured, the AF60 LR operates as a transparent bridge, extending your network wirelessly. Monitor link status and performance through the UISP™ application or the device's web interface. The LED indicators on the device provide a quick visual reference for power, Ethernet activity, and signal strength.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically inspect the device for dirt, dust, or debris. Gently clean the dish surface and housing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and apply firmware updates from the Ubiquiti support website. Firmware updates often include performance improvements, security enhancements, and bug fixes.
  • Environmental Checks: Ensure the mounting remains secure and that no obstructions have appeared in the line of sight.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Verify the PoE adapter is connected correctly to power and the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the AF60 LR. Check the power outlet.
  • No Link/Low Signal: Ensure both AF60 LR units are powered on and properly aligned. Check for any physical obstructions between the units. Verify configuration settings for frequency and channel.
  • Network Connectivity Issues: Confirm that the Ethernet cables are functional and properly connected to your network infrastructure. Check IP address settings and gateway configurations.
  • Resetting the Device: If the device is unresponsive, press and hold the reset button for approximately 10 seconds to restore factory default settings.
