  1. Prepare the Filter: Remove the AquaClean filter from its packaging. Shake the filter for approximately 5 seconds.
  2. Submerge the Filter: Submerge the filter upside down in a container of cold water. Gently shake it to release any air bubbles. This step is essential for proper activation.
  3. Access Water Tank: Open the water tank of your coffee machine. If there is an existing filter, remove it.
  4. Insert New Filter: Insert the prepared AquaClean filter vertically into the filter connection point in the water tank. Push it down firmly until it clicks into place.

3. Operating Principles

The AquaClean filter works by filtering water before it enters the machine's heating system. Its microporous filter effectively removes impurities and small dust particles, while the ion exchange technology prevents limescale formation. This process ensures that only clean, filtered water is used for brewing, preserving the rich aroma and taste of your coffee and reducing the need for frequent descaling cycles.

4. Maintenance and Replacement

The AquaClean filter has a limited lifespan, typically providing up to 625 cups of coffee. Your coffee machine will indicate when the filter needs to be replaced. It is recommended to replace the filter promptly when prompted to maintain water quality and machine performance.

  • Filter Lifespan: Each filter is designed to last for approximately 625 cups of coffee.
  • Replacement Indicator: Your Philips or Saeco coffee machine will display a notification when the AquaClean filter needs to be replaced.
  • Replacement Process: Follow the same installation steps outlined in Section 2 to replace an old filter with a new one.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues related to water quality or filter performance, consider the following:

  • Poor Water Taste: Ensure the filter was properly submerged and activated during installation. If the filter is old, it may need replacement.
  • Limescale Buildup: While the filter significantly reduces limescale, it does not eliminate the need for occasional descaling entirely, especially in areas with very hard water. Refer to your coffee machine's manual for descaling instructions.
  • Filter Not Recognized: Ensure the filter is correctly seated in the water tank. Re-insert it firmly. If the issue persists, the filter might be faulty, or your machine may require a reset.
