1. Introduction

2. Setup

2.1. Battery Installation

The Kenko KK-402 calculator is battery-operated. To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the calculator.
  2. Use a small screwdriver (not included) to open the battery compartment.
  3. Insert the required batteries (type not specified, typically button cell or AAA) according to the polarity indicators (+/-) inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it.

Caution: Ensure batteries are inserted correctly. Incorrect installation may damage the device.

2.2. Powering On/Off

  • To turn on the calculator, press the ON/CE button.
  • To turn off the calculator, press the OFF button.
  • The calculator also features an automatic power-off function to save energy. It will power off after a period of inactivity.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1. Basic Arithmetic Operations

Use the numeric keypad (0-9) and the decimal point (.) to enter numbers. Press the corresponding operator button for addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (X), or division (÷).

  • Addition: Enter first number, press +, enter second number, press =.
  • Subtraction: Enter first number, press -, enter second number, press =.
  • Multiplication: Enter first number, press X, enter second number, press =.
  • Division: Enter first number, press ÷, enter second number, press =.

3.2. Clear Functions

  • Press ON/CE once to clear the last entry. Press it twice to clear all entries and reset the calculator.
  • Press OFF to turn off the calculator.

3.3. Special Functions

  • Square Root (√): Enter a number, then press the button to calculate its square root.
  • Percentage (%): Enter a number, press X (or ÷), enter the percentage value, then press %. For example, to calculate 10% of 200, enter 200, press X, enter 10, press %.

3.4. Memory Functions

The calculator includes memory functions to store and recall values.

  • M+: Adds the displayed value to the memory.
  • M-: Subtracts the displayed value from the memory.
  • MRC: Press once to recall the memory value. Press twice to clear the memory.

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the calculator with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the calculator in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: If the calculator will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

5. Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
Display is blank or dim. Check battery installation. Replace batteries if necessary.
Calculator does not turn on. Ensure batteries are correctly installed and charged. Press the ON/CE button.
Incorrect calculation results. Press ON/CE twice to clear all previous operations and memory. Re-enter the calculation.
