1. Introduction
The Ortis Humidity Sensor Switch is an advanced in-wall control designed to automate your bathroom exhaust fan based on humidity levels. Utilizing a microprocessor and digital sensing technology, it helps maintain a dry and healthy environment by automatically activating the fan when moisture is detected. This new generation switch offers enhanced control with adjustable run times and dual functionality for both dehumidification and humidification.

Figure 2: The Ortis Humidity Sensor Switch is suitable for a wide range of applications, including bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements, garages, greenhouses, and pantries.
2. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and safety of your Ortis Humidity Sensor Switch. This device requires a neutral wire for operation and supports both 110V and 220V electrical systems. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified electrician if you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring.
2.1 Wiring Diagram
Refer to the diagram below for correct wiring. Ensure the power supply is turned off at the circuit breaker before beginning any installation work.
- Black Wire (LINE): Connects to the incoming hot wire from the electrical panel.
- Blue Wire (LOAD): Connects to the exhaust fan's hot wire.
- White Wire (NEUTRAL): Connects to the neutral wire from the electrical panel and the fan.
- Green/Bare Copper Wire (GROUND): Connects to the ground wire in the electrical box.

2.2 Pre-Installation Checklist
- Verify that your electrical box has a neutral wire available.
- Turn off power at the circuit breaker before installation.
- Ensure the switch is compatible with your fan's voltage (120V/220V).
3. Operating Instructions
The Ortis Humidity Sensor Switch offers both automatic and manual control modes, along with advanced settings for optimal performance.
3.1 Automatic Mode (Dehumidification Function)
In automatic mode, the switch continuously monitors the humidity level in the room. When the humidity exceeds your preset value, the exhaust fan will automatically turn on. It will stop once the moisture value returns to the set level. This function is ideal for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements to prevent mildew and odors.

Figure 4: The switch automatically checks humidity and turns on the fan. You can set the minimum run time from 1 to 60 minutes (default is 1 minute).
3.2 Manual Mode
To operate the fan manually, press the 'M' button. Pressing 'M' again will turn the fan off, or it can be set to run for a minimum of 1 minute before automatically turning off. The default manual run time is 1 minute, but it can be adjusted from 1 to 60 minutes.

Figure 5: Press the 'M' button to manually turn the fan on or off, or to activate a timed run.
3.3 Humidification Function
The switch also supports a humidification function. When the weather is dry, it can be used by connecting a humidifier to maintain desired humidity levels in areas like bedrooms or living rooms.
3.4 LCD Display and Key Lock
The integrated LCD screen displays the real-time humidity value, making it easy to monitor and manage the humidity level. The buttons can be locked to prevent accidental changes to settings.
3.5 Night Mode (No Disturb Function)
For undisturbed sleep, you can manually set the fan to turn off for 4-16 hours during the night. After the set time, the switch will automatically revert to its automatic mode. This feature ensures a quiet environment without the need for manual adjustments every morning.

Figure 6: Enjoy a peaceful night's sleep by utilizing the switch's night mode to temporarily disable fan operation.
4. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and accurate performance of your Ortis Humidity Sensor Switch, follow these general maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the surface of the switch with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the display or housing.
- Environment: Ensure the switch is installed in a location where it is not directly exposed to water spray or excessive dust, which could affect the sensor's accuracy.
- Sensor Care: Keep the sensor area (small vents on the switch) clear of obstructions to allow for accurate humidity detection.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Ortis Humidity Sensor Switch, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Fan Not Turning On Automatically:
- Check the set humidity threshold. The ambient humidity must exceed this value for the fan to activate.
- Ensure the switch is in automatic mode.
- Verify that the fan itself is operational by testing it manually.
- Fan Not Turning Off:
- Confirm the humidity level has dropped below the set threshold.
- Check the minimum run time setting; the fan will run for at least this duration even if humidity drops.
- Ensure the night mode is not active if you expect the fan to turn off immediately.
- Difficulty with Manual Operation:
- The 'M' button may require a specific sequence of presses (e.g., double-press) to activate or deactivate the fan. Refer to the detailed manual for specific button functions.
- Check if the key lock function is enabled, preventing button presses.
- Inaccurate Humidity Readings:
- Ensure the sensor vents are not blocked by dust or debris.
- Avoid installing the switch directly above a shower or in a location with direct steam exposure, as this can cause rapid, temporary spikes in readings.
- Consider if the room is properly sealed; drafts from wall cavities or open doors can affect readings.
- Display Issues:
- If the LCD is blank, check the power supply to the switch.
- If numbers on the display are confusing, refer to the full user manual for a key to the numbered settings.
